Cardiorespiratory and Metabolic Responses to Daily Activities in Children: Examining Sex Differences and Weight Categories

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim This study examined cardiorespiratory and metabolic responses to activities (supine rest, sitting, standing and walking) in children aged 6–12 years with normal weight, overweight and obesity, focusing on sex‐specific differences. Overweight and obesity were categorised per World Health Organization criteria, emphasising their global ...

Clinical Trial: The Effects of Emulsifiers in the Food Supply on Disease Activity in Crohn's Disease: An Exploratory Double‐Blinded Randomised Feeding Trial

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 61, Issue 8, Page 1276-1289, April 2025.
Diets modelled on healthy eating guidelines, but differing in the content of emulsifiers available in the food supply, improved disease activity on sonographic criteria, Harvey‐Bradshaw Index and patient‐reported outcomes over 4 weeks in 24 patients with active Crohn's disease, with no differences according to the content of emulsifiers.

Fighting against self‐stigma in adults with self‐reported diagnosis of OCD: A single‐arm pilot study using a mobile app‐based intervention

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Obsessive‐compulsive disorder (OCD) is a disabling disorder, and self‐stigma negatively impacts quality of life, symptom severity and self‐esteem. esTOCma is a smartphone‐based serious game developed to increase knowledge about OCD and reduce stigma.

Matrix metalloproteinase inhibition protects against junctophilin‐2 proteolysis during doxorubicin‐induced cardiotoxicity

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Treatment of cancer patients with anthracyclines is known to cause dose‐dependent cardiotoxicity through several mechanisms including enhanced oxidative stress, ultimately resulting in defective excitation–contraction coupling.

Multicasting in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks [PDF]

open access: possible, 2009
The success of wireless ad hoc networks and the increasing interest in multimedia applications explain the need of multicast protocols adapted to the wireless environment. In this chapter, we first introduce the design considerations for a multicast protocol in a wireless ad hoc network.

Mobile ad hoc networking: imperatives and challenges [PDF]

open access: possibleAd Hoc Networks, 2003
Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) represent complex distributed systems that comprise wireless mobile nodes that can freely and dynamically self-organize into arbitrary and temporary, ‘‘ad-hoc’’ network topologies, allowing people and devices to seamlessly internetwork in areas with no pre-existing communication infrastructure, e.g., disaster recovery ...

Network Mobility in Ad hoc Networks

2008 International Conference on Computer and Communication Engineering, 2008
The performance of routing protocols in a mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is related to the network topology and nodes mobility. In order to ensure good performances of routing protocols in MANET, it is necessary to take into account the mobility criterion when choosing best routes in the network.

Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks

2007
In the future, communication devices, communication-capable devices or sensors and home electronic appliances will have the capability to form various MANETs, and interoperate with the global communication networks. These MANETs play an important role in supporting various visions toward the creation of a world of ubiquitous computing where computation

Actors for Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks

2004
Today mobile devices can interact with their environment through wireless communication. Wireless communication has a limited communication range, which introduces two major problems, currently not captured in distributed middleware. Firstly, they are less reliable and secondly they are extremely dynamic.
