Digital mobile fronthaul employing differential pulse code modulation with suppressed quantization noise

, 2017
A differential pulse code modulation (DPCM) based digital mobile fronthaul architecture is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. By using a linear predictor in the DPCM encoding process, the quantization noise can be effectively suppressed and a ...

Application of network calculus to analyze eCPRI traffic delays in 4G/5G fronthaul mobile networks

Учёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Физико-математические науки
Network calculus provides a mathematical framework for determining the delay bounds in network models and, unlike the queueing theory which relies on the distribution functions of random variables, uses simple deterministic parameters describing the ...

Fronthaul for Cloud‐RAN Enabling Network Slicing in 5G Mobile Networks

Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing, 2018
This work considers how network slicing can use the network architecture Cloud‐Radio Access Network (C‐RAN) as an enabler for the required prerequisite network virtualization. Specifically this work looks at a segment of the C‐RAN architecture called the fronthaul network.

Real‐time demonstration of photonics‐based THz wireless fronthaul integrated with fiber‐optic mobile fronthaul

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters
AbstractA photonics‐based terahertz (THz) wireless fronthaul is proposed, and its feasibility is investigated by real‐time demonstration. The proposed wireless fronthaul can be simply integrated into existing fiber‐optic fronthaul, to serve as a complementary or emergency network.
