Jitter impact on mobile fronthaul links

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2014
An innovative setup for thorough jitter characterization in fronthaul links is introduced. Tests have been carried out on an operating LTE fronthaul link measuring jitter impact on BER, EVM and frequency deviation.

WDM Solutions and Technologies for Mobile Fronthaul

Asia Communications and Photonics Conference 2015, 2015
This paper gives a review on typical optical system solutions, especially WDM solutions, for mobile fronthaul applications. The ITU-T G.metro solution and a symmetric 25-Gb/s system based on remodulation are addressed in detail.

Wavelength Resource Sharing in Bidirectional Optical Mobile Fronthaul

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2015
In this paper, we propose high-capacity spectrally-efficient optical mobile fronthaul (MFH) architectures featuring wavelength resource sharing, where multiple cell sites share one dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) channel instead of occupying a number of separated DWDM channels.

Next Generation Mobile Fronthaul Architectures

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2015
The evolution to ever higher radio bandwidths and the massive introduction of new services and technologies in 5G networks, along with their challenging requirements in the time and frequency domain will warrant revisiting the present CPRI fronthaul approach.

Advanced IF-over-fiber systems for mobile fronthaul

Fourth International Conference on Photonics Solutions (ICPS2019), 2020
Radio-over-fiber (RoF) including intermediate frequency-over-fiber (IFoF) technologies have been considered to be one of the effective transmission technologies for the mobile fronthaul (MFH) links in the fifth generation (5G) and beyond- 5G mobile communication systems.

Fiber monitoring in analog mobile fronthaul

2016 18th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2016
Radio Access Network needs to evolve to meet 5G communication requirements. This must be supported by the development of underlying fiber-based transport technologies with the strong emphasis on extending the reach, improving the bandwidth-efficiency, and providing high reliability of the mobile fronthaul (MFH) part. One of the essential aspects in the

Low-Latency High-Efficiency Mobile Fronthaul With TDM-PON (Mobile-PON)

Journal of Optical Communications and Networking, 2017
To meet the capacity requirements of the exponential increase in mobile traffic and to continue to drive down the per-bit cost for mobile service providers, the cloud radio access network (C-RAN) has become a crucial step toward 5G. However, the current C-RAN architecture has some major drawbacks in terms of scalability, cost, and efficiency.

Handling Delay in 5G Ethernet Mobile Fronthaul Networks

2018 European Conference on Networks and Communications (EuCNC), 2018
In this paper we discuss how to handle delay in 5G Ethernet mobile fronthaul networks. The reasons for the delay requirements, addressing both service and protocol specific requirements, are discussed together with prime carrier needs of scalability of networks and easy migration to new network solutions.

Mobile fronthaul RoF transceivers for C-RAN applications

2015 17th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2015
We address the development of mobile fronthaul (MFH) radio-over-fibre (RoF) transceivers with the capability to transport Digital RoF (D-RoF) signals for C-RAN applications. The coexistence of transport of D-RoF with legacy and the future Passive Optical Network (PON) systems, such as Next Generation PON 2 (NG-PON2) will be analysed.
