Cross-Gen: An Efficient Generator Network for Adversarial Attacks on Cross-Modal Hashing Retrieval

open access: yesFuture Internet
Research on deep neural network (DNN)-based multi-dimensional data visualization has thoroughly explored cross-modal hash retrieval (CMHR) systems, yet their vulnerability to malicious adversarial examples remains evident.

Certified Program Synthesis with a Multi-Modal Verifier

open access: yesCoRR
Certified program synthesis (aka vericoding) is the process of automatically generating a program, its formal specification, and a machine-checkable proof of their alignment from a natural-language description. Two challenges make vericoding difficult. First, specifications synthesised from natural language are often either too weak to be meaningful or

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

A double modal synthesis approach for brake squeal prediction

open access: yes, 2016
International audienceThis paper is devoted to propose a new efficient reduction method for predicting the stability analysis of a brake system subjected to friction-induced vibration. The finite element brake system under study is composed of a disc and

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Perceptual evaluation of modal synthesis for impact-based sounds

open access: yes, 2019
The use of real-time sound synthesis for sound effects can improve the sound design of interactive experiences such as video games. However, synthesized sound effects can be often perceived as synthetic, which hampers their adoption.
