Mode division multiplexed networks
2017 Opto-Electronics and Communications Conference (OECC) and Photonics Global Conference (PGC), 2017A deployment scenarios of space division multiplexing (SDM) in metro area network is presented. Comparative studies of few-mode fiber vs. multicore fiber as well as mode division multiplexed (MDM) node architectures of supermode vs. mode-unbundling are discussed.

On-Chip Mode-Division Multiplexer
CLEO: 2013, 2013We demonstrate micron-scale on-chip mode-division multiplexing device with low crosstalk using add-drop silicon ring resonators array. We taper the bus waveguide width to selectively phase-match the different bus waveguide modes to the ring mode.

Dynamic channel modeling for mode-division multiplexing
2016 IEEE Photonics Society Summer Topical Meeting Series (SUM), 2016We propose a dynamic channel model to describe time-varying polarization- and spatial-mode coupling in few-mode fibers caused by fast environmental perturbations. We employ the model to study the tracking performance of adaptive multi-input multi-output equalization algorithms.
