Fatigue Crack Initiation and Growth in Nanocrystalline Ni at Multiple Length‐Scales
Overview of miniaturized in situ SEM fatigue setup and resultant fatigue crack growth data for nanocrystalline Ni. The presented study focuses on the analysis of fatigue crack growth rate (FCGR) in focused ion beam‐notched microcantilevers prepared from nanocrystalline (NC) Ni as a model material.

Passively Mode-Locked Erbium-Doped Fiber Laser and Application in Laser Thrombolysis
Fiber lasers have been widely used in surgery with the development of fiber photonics. Since the human body is prone to myocardial infarction caused by blood clots, laser thrombolysis was proposed as a safe and efficient treatment.

High-Order Mode Mode-Locked Fiber Laser Based on Few-Mode Saturable Absorber
We presented two kinds of high-order mode (HOM) mode-locked fiber lasers based on few-mode (FM) saturable absorbers for direct HOM oscillation. One is a ring fiber laser based on a carbon nanotube (CNT) saturable absorber (SA), in which the combination ...

MXene-based saturable absorber for femtosecond mode-locked fiber lasers.
We report simple and compact all-fiber erbium-doped soliton and dispersion-managed soliton femtosecond lasers mode-locked by the MXene Ti3C2Tx. A saturable absorber device fabricated by optical deposition of Ti3C2Tx onto a microfiber exhibits strong ...

Control of Polarization and Polar Helicity in BiFeO3 by Epitaxial Strain and Interfacial Chemistry
In BiFeO3 thin films, the interplay of interfacial chemistry, electrostatics, and epitaxial strain is engineered to stabilize homohelicity in polarization textures at the domain scale. The synergistic use of a Bi2O2‐terminated Aurivillius buffer layer and a highly anisotropic compressive epitaxial strain offers new routes to control the polar‐texture ...

General description and understanding of the nonlinear dynamics of mode-locked fiber lasers
As a type of nonlinear system with complexity, mode-locked fiber lasers are known for their complex behaviour. It is a challenging task to understand the fundamental physics behind such complex behaviour, and a unified description for the nonlinear ...

L-band Wavelength-Switchable Dissipative Soliton Resonance Er-doped Fiber Laser
The experiment reports a kind of L-band dissipative soliton resonance (DSR) nanosecond Er-doped fiber laser. The passive mode-locked L-band DSR pulse is achieved in a figure-eight structure by using the nonlinear-amplifying-loop-mirror (NALM).

The maximum peak power of ultrafast mode-locked lasers has been limited by cubic nonlinearity, which collapses the mode-locked pulses and consequently leads to noisy operation or satellite pulses.
