Optically injected mode-locked laser

Physical Review E, 2011
We study analytically and numerically a delay differential model of a passively mode-locked semiconductor laser subjected to a single frequency coherent injection. The width of the locking cone is calculated asymptotically in the limit of small injection and compared to that obtained by direct numerical integration of the model equations.

Pseudo mode-locking

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2020
A new mode-locking mechanism is discussed that solely relies on four-wave mixing and does not require a saturable absorber. This mechanism explains a number of previously reported peculiar findings of self-modelocking and comb formation.

A Mode-Locked Nd:YAG Laser

Journal of Applied Physics, 1968
A mode-locked Nd:YAG laser is described which produces pulses 30 psec in duration at a 2.6 nsec repetition rate. The locking range extends over ≈35 GHz, although the free-running oscillating linewidth is only about 10 GHz. Also discussed is the behavior of the phase of the pulsetrain with changing cavity length.

AlGaInAs mode-locked lasers for ultrashort pulse harmonic mode locking

2011 13th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks, 2011
Monolithic AlInGaAs compound-cavity lasers for harmonic ML at multi-GHz frequencies have been fabricated and assessed. Optical pulses of ∶ 1 ps long at 160 GHz have been obtained. The optimal cavity and reflector design has been investigated experimentally and theoretically.

Mechanism of harmonic mode locking of the regeneratively mode-locked laser diode

2004 IEEE 19th International Semiconductor Laser Conference, 2004. Conference Digest., 2005
It was found that the harmonic frequency optical injection locking of the regeneratively mode-locked laser diode occurs through the difference frequency component generation. Synchronization with up to 320-GHz input was also confirmed.

An automatic mode-locked system for passively mode-locked fiber laser

SPIE Proceedings, 2013
This paper designs and implements one kind of automatic mode-locked system. It can adjust a passively mode-locked fiber laser to keep steady mode-locked states automatically. So the unsteadiness of traditional passively mode-locked fiber laser can be avoided.

Mode‐Locked Soliton Lasers

SIAM Review, 2006
A comprehensive treatment is given for the formation of mode-locked soliton pulses in optical fiber and solid state lasers. The pulse dynamics is dominated by the interaction of the cubic Kerr nonlinearity and chromatic dispersion with an intensity-dependent perturbation provided by the mode-locking element in the laser cavity.

Mode locking in tokamaks

Nuclear Fusion, 1990
The theory of non-linear tearing modes has been extended to include the effects of rotation and interaction with a resistive wall. The time dependent solution of the resulting equations shows a spatial locking of the mode similar to that observed in tokamak experiments.

Mode-locked lasers

Optical Engineering, 1992
A review of various types of active and passive mode-locked lasers is presented. Theoretical and experimental aspects of mode locking are covered. Stabilization schemes used in mode-locked laser systems are described. Techniques used in the measurement of the time duration of the ultrashort pulses and the uses of high-power, low-power, and picosecond ...

Passive Mode Locking

1987
The technical requirements for active mode locking, as described in the previous two chapters, are not simply fulfilled. The external source for driving the modulator must be accurately frequency stabilized at the pulse repetition frequency. An alternative for obtaining short pulses, called passive mode locking, does not require these complications ...
