Increased reliability of passive mode-locking a multi-atmosphere TE CO2 laser by injection mode-locking [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
By injection of manosecond pulses from an AM mode-locked TEA CO2 laser in a passive mode-locked multi-atmosphere TE CO2 laser the shot-to-shot reproducibility of the generated subnanosecond pulses was increased to almost 100%

Bound Soliton Fiber Laser Mode-Locking Without Saturable Absorption Effect

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
Stable bound soliton laser mode-locking is experimentally demonstrated in an environmentally stable hybrid mode-locked Er-doped fiber laser without incorporating (equivalent) nonlinear saturable absorption effects.

Mode-Locking Thulium-Doped Fiber Laser With 1.78-GHz Repetition Rate Based on Combination of Nonlinear Polarization Rotation and Semiconductor Saturable Absorber Mirror

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
We experimentally demonstrate a passively mode-locking thulium-doped fiber laser based on the combination of the nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR) and the semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM).

Optically injected mode-locked laser

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2011
We study analytically and numerically a delay differential model of a passively mode-locked semiconductor laser subjected to a single frequency coherent injection. The width of the locking cone is calculated asymptotically in the limit of small injection and compared to that obtained by direct numerical integration of the model equations.

175 GHz, 400-fs-pulse harmonically mode-locked surface emitting semiconductor laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We report a harmonically mode-locked vertical external cavity surface emitting laser (VECSEL) producing 400 fs pulses at a repetition frequency of 175 GHz with an average output power of 300 mW.

Mechanically exfoliated black phosphorus as a new saturable absorber for both Q-switching and Mode-locking laser operation.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2015
Black phosphorus (BP), an emerging narrow direct band-gap two-dimensional (2D) layered material that can fill the gap between the semi-metallic graphene and the wide-bandgap transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), had been experimentally found to ...

Mode-locking in ac-driven vortex lattices with random pinning

open access: yes, 2000
We find mode-locking steps in simulated current-voltage characteristics of ac-driven vortex lattices with {\it random} pinning. For low frequencies there is mode-locking above a finite ac force amplitude, while for large frequencies there is mode-locking

Switchable Dual-Comb Fiber Laser Based on Sagnac Loop for Wavelength-Multiplexing and Polarization-Multiplexing

open access: yesPhotonics
We present an all-fiber erbium-doped mode-locked laser capable of switching among continuously tunable single-pulse mode-locking, wavelength-multiplexing asynchronous-pulse mode-locking, and polarization-multiplexing asynchronous-pulse mode-locking ...

Mode-locking in driven vortex lattices with transverse ac-drive and random pinning

open access: yes, 2001
We find mode-locking steps in simulated current-voltage characteristics of driven vortex lattices with {\it random} pinning when an applied ac-current is {\it perpendicular} to the dc-current.
