Mode-coupling branches in single-mode classical Rayleigh-Taylor instability for arbitrary Atwood numbers

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
In this research, the effect of the mode-coupling branches/channels on harmonic amplitudes in single-mode classical Rayleigh-Taylor instability for arbitrary Atwood numbers in the weakly nonlinear stage is investigated by employing the tracking ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Experimental study of friction-induced noise generated from the printer fuser assembly (Generation mechanism and countermeasures)

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal
In a printer fuser assembly, unpleasant noise caused by friction-induced vibrations can occur owing to friction between the pad and the inner surface of the fixing sleeve.

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Higher-Dimensional Communications Using Multimode Fibers and Compact Components to Enable a Dense Set of Communicating Channels

open access: yesOptics
Higher-dimensional communications are of interest for multiple reasons, including increasing the classical transmission capacity and, more recently, the quantum state transfer through fibers using the many modes within the fiber.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Mode coupling in dynamic stabilization of MhD modes [PDF]

open access: yesPlasma Physics, 1974
Existing theory of dynamic stabilization of MHD modes completely disagrees with experimental results obtained for the m=1 mode in a linear screw pinch with superimposed HF axial fields (Bz). Theory fails to describe the experimental stabilizing condition and the magnitude and structure of the dynamic force (Fexp) derived from it. There is some evidence

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Tunable Near-Infrared Transparent Bands Based on Cascaded Fabry–Perot Cavities Containing Phase Change Materials

open access: yesPhotonics
In this paper, we construct a near-infrared Fabry–Perot cavity composed of two sodium (Na) layers and an antimony trisulfide (Sb2S3) layer. By cascading two Fabry–Perot cavities, the transmittance peak splits into two transmittance peaks due to the ...
