High Speed Data Transmission over GI-MMF Using Mode Group Division Multiplexing [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
We transmitted 4x28 Gbit/s over 5-km standard GI-MMF using four different mode groups in combination with direct detection and on-off-keying format (OOK). Due to the square-law detection in the receiver MIMO processing is not effective. Therefore proper mode group selective multiplexing and de-multiplexing is essential.

State‐of‐the‐Art, Insights, and Perspectives for MOFs‐Nanocomposites and MOF‐Derived (Nano)Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Different approaches to MOF‐NP composite formation, such as ship‐in‐a‐bottle, bottle‐around‐the‐ship and in situ one‐step synthesis, are used. Owing to synergistic effects, the advantageous features of the components of the composites are beneficially combined, and their individual drawbacks are mitigated.

Machine‐Learning‐Aided Advanced Electrochemical Biosensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Electrochemical biosensors are highly sensitive, portable, and versatile. Advanced nanomaterials enhance their performance, while machine learning (ML) improves data analysis, minimizes interference, and optimizes sensor design. Despite progress in both fields, their combined potential in diagnostics remains underexplored.

4 X 20 Gbit/s mode division multiplexing over free space using vector modes and a q-plate mode (de)multiplexer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Vector modes are spatial modes that have spatially inhomogeneous states of polarization, such as, radial and azimuthal polarization. They can produce smaller spot sizes and stronger longitudinal polarization components upon focusing. As a result, they are used for many applications, including optical trapping and nanoscale imaging. In this work, vector

Protein‐Like Polymers Targeting Keap1/Nrf2 as Therapeutics for Myocardial Infarction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We describe a Keap1 targeting protein‐like polymer (PLP) which activates Nrf2, an important cytoprotective transcription factor for relieving myocardial infarction‐induced oxidative stress. This PLP increases cell survival in vitro in multiple relevant cardiac cell types and elicits pro‐reparative responses, improving cardiac function in a preclinical ...
