Fracture toughness for mixed mode I/II of epoxy resin
Acta Materialia, 2005We investigated the fracture locus and the direction of the crack initiation under mixed mode I/II for epoxy resin at room temperature. In order to obtain them over a whole mode mixity, we conducted asymmetric bending tests. We examined four common fracture criteria to compare them with the experimental results.

Ceramic Matrix Composite Interlaminar Fracture Toughness (Mode I-II) Characterization
Volume 6: Ceramics; Controls, Diagnostics and Instrumentation; Education; Manufacturing Materials and Metallurgy; Honors and Awards, 2015The objective of this effort is to develop and demonstrate innovative interlaminar Mode I and Mode II fracture toughness analysis and test methods for ceramic matrix composites (CMC). Currently, there are number of American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) test standards for CMC’s at both ambient and elevated temperatures, including ...

Mixed Mode (Mode I/III) Dynamic Fracture Initiation Toughness of Aluminum Alloy
In this study, a hybrid experimental-numerical approach is used to determine the mixed mode (mode I/III) dynamic fracture initiation toughness of aluminum alloy. Cylindrical specimens with spiral v-notch at a revolution angle of 360°and pitch angles 22.5°(inclined angles) are fabricated from aluminum rod.Ali F. Fahem, Addis Kidane
