The modes of action of gallamine

Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series B. Biological Sciences, 1981
Abstract The action of gallamine, a classical competitive neuromuscular blocking agent, has been examined on voltage-clamped endplates of frog skeletal muscle fibres. Gallamine produces a parallel shift of the equilibrium log (concentration)–response curves in concentrations of up to about 40 μM.

MODE OF ACTION OF THYROCALCITONIN

Journal of Endocrinology, 1967
SUMMARY The effect of nephrectomy on the response to thyrocalcitonin was studied in three groups of rats: intact animals on stock diet; parathyroidectomized rats on stock diet; and parathyroidectomized rats on high calcium, low phosphorus diet.

Mode of action of clotrimazole

Medical Mycology, 1973
Clotrimazole, a synthetic antifungal agent, was fungicidal to growing cultures of one strain of Candida albicans. Cultures treated with the drug were osmotically stable. It had no effect on the respiratory activity of intact C. albicans cells or their isolated mitochondria with exogenous NADH and succinate as substrates.

On the Mode of Action of BCG

Nature New Biology, 1973
BACILLUS Calmette-Guerin (BCG) is of considerable value as a non-specific adjuvant in the immunotherapy of neoplasia1–6. Although the striking preponderance of macrophages at the site of rejection elicited by intralesional BCG is support for their function as effector cells, we present evidence here for an additional role of the macrophage.

Quinolone Mode of Action

Drugs, 1995
Physical studies have further defined interactions of quinolones with their principal target, DNA gyrase. The binding of quinolones to the DNA gyrase-DNA complex suggests 2 possible binding sites of differing affinities. Mutations in either the gyrase A gene (gyrA) or the gyrase B gene (gyrB) that affect quinolone susceptibility also affect drug ...

Antimutagens and their Modes of Action

1986
Agents suppressing cellular mutagenesis have been known for some time, and their modes of action have been analyzed in the field of bacterial genetics (8, 49). More recently, a number of mutagens have been detected in our environment and their genotoxicities recognized (45).

Nanovaccines and their mode of action

Methods, 2013
Nanosized particles including nanovaccines are a novel approach to the development of vaccines to combat diseases. Nanovaccines have the promise to utilize the immune system to cure infections and to prevent infections and diseases from spreading. Rational vaccine development requires an understanding of vaccine mediated stimulation of the immune ...

The Mode of Action of Hormones

Angewandte Chemie International Edition in English, 1972
AbstractHigher organisms having anatomically and functionally differentiated organ systems must be able to coordinate biochemical processes within and between the various organs or cells, even under rapidly changing environmental conditions. Hormones play an important part in the regulation processes: they promote numerous metabolic reactions and ...
