Antenna shape synthesis using characteristic modes
IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1982An initial effort is described to develop an antenna synthesis procedure by which the shape of a surface of rotation and its current density are deduced from a given far-field radiation pattern which satisfies the conditions of a characteristic mode.

An enhanced mode shape identification algorithm
30th Structures, Structural Dynamics and Materials Conference, 1989A mode shape identification algorithm is developed which is characterized by a low sensitivity to measurement noise and a high accuracy of mode identification. The algorithm proposed here is also capable of identifying the mode shapes of structures with significant damping.

Vector modes of D-shaped fibres
IEE Proceedings J Optoelectronics, 1992Vector normal modes are determined for a waveguide with a circular core and unbounded cladding in close proximity to a dielectric halfspace. This model is applicable to D-shaped or polished fibres and to a tapered fibre in contact with or in close proximity to a plane.

Assembling mode shapes by least squares
Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, 2011Abstract Assembling (or ‘gluing’) mode shapes identified from multiple setups is a problem frequently encountered in full-scale modal tests that cover a large number of locations with a limited number of sensors. Mode shapes identified in individual setups can have different sense and scaling.

Y-Shape Dielectric Dual-Mode Resonator
IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 2008In this paper, a new concept for a dual-mode dielectric resonator is presented, which is based on TM-mode operation in dielectric rods. By arranging the dielectric rods in Y-shape configuration, new fundamental eigenmode resonances are found to be present.

Mode Shape Identification Using Mobile Sensors
2011The accurate identification of mode shapes is a key issue for vibration analysis and model updating. The standard identification procedure is to place sensors at fixed locations in the structure, and identify modal coordinates at those points. Economic and practical constraints for in situ identification prevent the use of high number of sensors ...
