Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Stable Maximum Descent: An Improved Method of Reference Model Adaptive Control

open access: yesMeasurement + Control, 1974
An improved method of reference model adaptive control is developed which provides fast adaptation of system parameters. Application of the theory is demonstrated on a practical example with three adaptive variables.

Model-reference attitude control and reaction control jet engine placement for space shuttle [PDF]

open access: yes
Analytical studies on the theoretical aspects of thrust vector control of large space vehicles were conducted. A system for attitude control of the space shuttle vehicle was developed.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

An Optimal Control Modification to Model-Reference Adaptive Control for Fast Adaptation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper presents a method that can achieve fast adaptation for a class of model-reference adaptive control. It is well-known that standard model-reference adaptive control exhibits high-gain control behaviors when a large adaptive gain is used to ...

Transfer Learning for High-Precision Trajectory Tracking Through $\mathcal{L}_1$ Adaptive Feedback and Iterative Learning

open access: yes, 2018
Robust and adaptive control strategies are needed when robots or automated systems are introduced to unknown and dynamic environments where they are required to cope with disturbances, unmodeled dynamics, and parametric uncertainties.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Model Reference Adaptive Scheme for Multi-drug Infusion for Blood Pressure Control

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Bioinformatics, 2011
Using multiple interacting drugs to control both the mean arterial pressure (MAP) and cardiac output (CO) of patients with different sensitivity to drugs is a challenging task which this paper attempts to address. A multivariable model reference adaptive

Adaptive PF (PDF) Speed Control for Servo Drives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper proposes two model reference adaptive PF (PDF) speed control methods for servo drives. Following from the structure (PF‐type) of model reference parameter adaptive control was developed to provide constant loop gain in speed control loop ...
