Cover and hitting times of hyperbolic random graphs
Abstract We study random walks on the giant component of Hyperbolic Random Graphs (HRGs), in the regime when the degree distribution obeys a power law with exponent in the range (2,3)$$ \left(2,3\right) $$. In particular, we first focus on the expected time for a random walk to hit a given vertex or visit, that is, cover, all vertices.

Net primary productivity and litter decomposition rates in two distinct Amazonian peatlands
Our understanding of carbon cycling in tropical peatlands is limited by the lack of data on forest productivity and litter decomposition. Here we present measurements from two floristically distinct Amazonian peatland forests, a palm‐dominated swamp and a thin‐stemmed hardwood swamp.

Abstract Premise Competition from naturalized species and habitat loss are common threats to native biodiversity and may act synergistically to increase competition for decreasing habitat availability. We use Hawaiian dryland ferns as a model for the interactions between land‐use change and competition from naturalized species in determining habitat ...

Modelamiento Orientado a Objetos - II233 - 202101

An efficient method for optimizing nested open pits with operational bottom space
Abstract Determining a set of nested pits to support the design of an open pit mine that leads to high economic value is crucial for the strategic planning of these operations; thus, practitioners rely on optimization methods for finding high‐value solutions.
