Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Modelica - A Language for Physical System Modeling, Visualization and Interaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Modelica is an object-oriented language for modeling of large, complex and heterogeneous physical systems. It is suited for multi-domain modeling, for example for modeling of mechatronics including cars, aircrafts and industrial robots which typically ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

A Mathematical Model of Suspension Filtration With Formation of a Consolidated Sediment

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics
A model for suspension filtration in a porous medium is developed with the formation of a consolidating sediment. A system of equations including the equation for determining the pressure and the equations for determining the saturation of the medium by ...

Modeling Vacuum Arcs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We are developing a model of vacuum arcs. This model assumes that arcs develop as a result of mechanical failure of the surface due to Coulomb explosions, followed by ionization of fragments by field emission and the development of a small, dense plasma ...

Models as Documents, Documents as Models

open access: yes, 2022
In software engineering, documentation and models are both broad concepts which attract varying approaches and attitudes. Moreover, as the title indicates, they overlap: in some circumstances, an artefact thought of as a model can serve to document a software project, while in others, an artefact thought of as a document can be manipulated by model ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
