Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Modelling of particle-reflection-distributions of rough surfaces

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy
The modelling of plasma-wall-interactions (PWI) depends on distributions describing the angle- and energy distribution of particles scattered at first wall. Most PWI codes (e.g. SOLPS, EIRENE) rely on extensive tables based on reflection simulations (e.g.

Construction of the geological model of the “Knurów” deposit and its application to the exploitation design [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The “Knurów” deposit is characterized by intense and rich fold and fault tectonics. The model of the “Knurów” deposit includes 11 seams belonging to the Orzesze, Ruda Śląska and Siodłowe layers.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Modelling biplanes on surfaces

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Combinatorics, 2004
A biplane is a symmetric design on \(v = k(k-1)/2 + 1\) points and the same number of lines such that (1) each line contains exactly \(k\) points, (2) each point is on exactly \(k\) lines, and (3) any pair of points lie on exactly 2 lines. Non-trivial biplanes are known to exist only for \(k = 3,4,5,6,9,11\), and \(13\).

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Optimization of Modelling Population Density Estimation Based on Impervious Surfaces

open access: yesLand, 2021
Population data are key indicators of policymaking, public health, and land use in urban and ecological systems; however, traditional censuses are time-consuming, expensive, and laborious.
