Magnetic Field Control Using an Electromagnetic Actuation System with Combined Air‐Core and Metal‐Core Coils

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
An electromagnetic manipulation system enhances magnetic field strength in the Z‐direction for 3D control of microrobots and nanoparticles. Featuring eight metal‐core coils and two air‐core coils arranged hemispherically, it ensures unimpeded workspace access and integrates imaging tools.

Beyond the Standard Model with noncommutative geometry, strolling towards quantum gravity

open access: yes, 2015
Noncommutative geometry, in its many incarnations, appears at the crossroad of various researches in theoretical and mathematical physics: from models of quantum space-time (with or without breaking of Lorentz symmetry) to loop gravity and string theory,

Inequivalence of mimetic gravity with models of loop quantum gravity

open access: yesPhysical Review D
Certain versions of mimetic gravity have recently been claimed to present potential covariant theories of canonically modified spherically symmetric gravity, motivated by ingredients from loop quantum gravity. If such an equivalence were to hold, it would demonstrate general covariance of a large class of models considered in loop quantum gravity ...

Bubbles Acting as Micro End‐Effectors for Dexterous Manipulation and Sensing in Aqueous Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
Inspired by bubbles, this article proposes a low‐cost method for multifunctional manipulation and sensing using microbubbles in aqueous environments. Bubbles are easily generated in situ, enabling the safe and adaptive handling of microobjects and sensing of microforces and surface textures.

Unitarity bounds on low scale quantum gravity

open access: yes, 2010
We study the unitarity of models with low scale quantum gravity both in four dimensions and in models with a large extra-dimensional volume. We find that models with low scale quantum gravity have problems with unitarity below the scale at which gravity ...

Quantum reduction to Bianchi I models in loop quantum gravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We propose a quantum symmetry reduction of loop quantum gravity to Bianchi I spacetimes. To this end, we choose the diagonal metric gauge for the spatial diffeomorphism constraint at the classical level, leading to an $\mathbb{R}_{\text{Bohr}}$ gauge ...

Phenomenology of High-Energy Neutrinos in Low-Scale Quantum-Gravity Models [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2001
We show that neutrino telescopes, optimized for detecting neutrinos of TeV to PeV energy, can reveal threshold effects associated with TeV-scale gravity. The signature is an increase with energy of the cross section beyond what is predicted by the Standard Model.

Predicting Performance of Hall Effect Ion Source Using Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
This study introduces HallNN, a machine learning tool for predicting Hall effect ion source performance using a neural network ensemble trained on data generated from numerical simulations. HallNN provides faster and more accurate predictions than numerical methods and traditional scaling laws, making it valuable for designing and optimizing Hall ...

The projector on physical states in loop quantum gravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We construct the operator that projects on the physical states in loop quantum gravity. To this aim, we consider a diffeomorphism invariant functional integral over scalar functions. The construction defines a covariant, Feynman-like, spacetime formalism

A Novel Parameter Estimation Method for Pneumatic Soft Hand Control Applying Logarithmic Decrement for Pseudo‐Rigid Body Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
In this research, a paradigm of parameter estimation method for pneumatic soft hand control is proposed. The method includes the following: 1) sampling harmonic damping waves, 2) applying pseudo‐rigid body modeling and the logarithmic decrement method, and 3) deriving position and force control.
