Reconceptualising moderation in asynchronous online discussions using grounded theory [PDF]

open access: yesDistance Education, 2010
This paper reports a grounded theory study of e-moderation of asynchronous online discussions, to explore the processes by which tutors in higher education decide when and how to e-moderate. It aims to construct a theory of e-moderation based on some key

Kinetic Theory of Moderately Dense Gases

The Physics of Fluids, 1958
A kinetic theory of moderately dense gases is developed. The theory is based on a modified Boltzmann equation, which takes into account the ``collisional transfer'' of momentum and energy. The theory applies to pure gases made up of spherical molecules, and the effect of multiple collisions is neglected.

On the transients of elastic moderation theory

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1974
A complete solution of the neutron slowing-down problem is developed for isotropic elastic scattering in an infinite homogeneous medium. An exact formula for obtaining all the complex roots of the transcendental equation is given. This, together with the exact nontrivial real root determined elsewhere, constitutes the exact solution of the problem.

The Moderation Theory Revisited

Party Politics, 2009
An influential political science literature argues that integration of radical political parties within the political system leads to their moderation. These parties trade off their ideological platforms for electoral viability and political legality. Radicals become moderates through strategic interests.

The moderating role of trust and the theory of reasoned action

Journal of Knowledge Management, 2020
PurposeThis paper aims to examine the role of trust in colleagues and its relationships with the factors of the theory of reasoned action (TRA). Specifically, this study examines the relationships among perceived social pressure about knowledge sharing, attitude toward knowledge sharing, behavioural intent to share knowledge, trust in colleagues and ...

A Refined Theory of Elastic-Plastic Shells at Moderate Rotations

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 1989
AbstractA rate variational principle and the associated rate equations for anisotropic elastic‐plastic shells undergoing small strains accompanied by moderate rotations are developed in the framework of first‐order shear deformation shell theory.

Kinetic Theory of Moderately Dense Gases

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1971
A kinetic equation approach to the kinetic theory of moderately dense gases is developed by asymptotic expansions from a viewpoint independent of Bogoliubov chaos assumptions. The theory is applied to the rigid sphere model where the contributions which determine the Enskog dense gas theory are identified.

Heavy Moderator Approximations in Neutron Transport Theory

Journal of Applied Physics, 1958
The flow of neutrons slowing down into a given angular and lethargy (or energy) interval equals an integral over the contributions from neutrons at other angles and lethargies within the medium. The two angular dependences of the integrand are commonly expanded in Legendre polynomials, and for heavy moderators, the lethargy dependence being integrated ...

Models, Mechanisms and Moderators Dissociating Empathy and Theory of Mind

2015
Most instances of social interaction provide a wealth of information about the states of other people, be it sensations, feelings, thoughts, or convictions. How we represent these states has been a major question in social neuroscience, leading to the identification of two routes to understanding others: an affective route for the direct sharing of ...
