Electrical resistivity variations and moderate earthquakes
Tectonophysics, 1992Abstract Electromagnetic soundings based on powerful current sources revealed abnormal (up to 8%) resistivity variations prior to moderate earthquakes ( M = 4.7). Routine resistivity measurements were conducted at 32 sites in the Northern Tien Shan seismogenic region around the earthquake epicentre. Sounding depths reached 15 km.

Variations in mental performance under moderate cold stress
International Journal of Biometeorology, 1987Effects of moderate cold stress on reasoning ability, associative learning and critical flicker frequncy of Indian subjects were studied by exposing them to 25‡C,. 20‡C, 15‡C and 10‡C for three hours. A second set of experiments was also conducted to confirm the conclusions of the first by using the same temperatures and duration of exposure.

The aim of this secondary analysis was to identify prodynorphin (PDYN) genetic markers moderating the therapeutic response to treatment of cocaine dependence with buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone®; BUP).Cocaine-dependent participants (N = 302) were randomly assigned to a platform of injectable, extended-release naltrexone (XR-NTX) and one of three ...

Daily variation in running economy of moderately trained male runners
Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, 1991The purpose of this study was to quantify total within-subject variation in running economy (RE) in moderately trained male runners (N = 10). Subjects (ages 20-34 yr) were monitored during treadmill running, five times a week (Mon-Fri) for 4 wk, at 2.68, 3.13, and 3.58 m.s-1.

On Tests for Group Variation With a Small to Moderate Number of Groups
Lifetime Data Analysis, 1998This paper considers a family of penalized likelihood score tests for group variation. The tests can be indexed by a measure of degrees of freedom. At one extreme, with degrees of freedom one less than the number of groups, is the usual score test for a fixed effects alternative using indicator variables for the groups, while at the other extreme, in ...

Global variations of stress drop for moderate to large earthquakes
Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 2009We investigate the global variation of earthquake stress drops using spectra of about 2000 events of mb ≥ 5.5 between 1990 and 2007. We use an iterative least squares method to isolate source displacement spectra from travel path and receiver contributions, based on a convolutional model. The observed P wave source spectra are corrected with a globally

Influence of moderate temperature variation on fibers for MSFRCs
2022Fibre reinforced concretes are nowadays widely adopted in some constructions sectors. Their increasing adoption has been supported by many research studies that guided the definition standards and guidelines for testing and design. Nevertheless some aspects of their behaviour have not yet been deeply studied and understood; for instance the effect of ...

The Temperature Variation of the Magnetization of Nickel in Low and Moderate Fields
Proceedings of the Physical Society. Section B, 1952An account is given of measurements on the reversible changes in magnetization accompanying change in temperature in annealed nickel, and the results are discussed in relation to the work of Bates and others on the temperature changes produced by adiabatic changes in magnetization (the magneto-caloric effect). It is found that at relatively high fields,

Variation in Diagnosis of Apnea in Moderately Preterm Infants Predicts Length of Stay
Pediatrics, 2011OBJECTIVE:Apnea of prematurity is one of the most common diagnoses in the NICU. Because resolution of apnea is a usual precondition for discharge from the hospital, different monitoring practices might affect length of stay for premature infants. Our objective was to compare the proportion of 33 to 34 weeks' gestational age infants diagnosed with apnea
