Ratiometric Mycotoxin Detection in Living Plants With Dual‐Emissive Nanosensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A minimally invasive microneedle patch integrates carbon dot‐embedded metal–organic frameworks as nanosensors to detect a key fungal toxin in living plants. The nanosensor produces a ratiometric fluorescence signal that enables early, non‐destructive diagnosis of fungal infection before visible symptoms, offering a new biomaterials‐based strategy for ...

Linker‐Engineered Dimeric Acceptors Afford Efficient Organic Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution via Tailored Nanomorphology for Long‐Lived Charge Accumulation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We developed a new series of monomeric (MY) and dimeric acceptors incorporating unfused (DY1) and fused (DY2) linkers, which establish a controlled self‐aggregation trend of MY > DY2 > DY1. The DY2‐based system yields a bulk‐heterojunction nanoparticle morphology that appears to balance phase separation and interfacial accessibility, consistent with ...

Negotiating modernism in Cape Town: 1918-1948 : an investigation into the introduction, contestation, negotiation and adaptation of modernism in the architecture of Cape Town

open access: yes, 2011
In the early twentieth century modernism radically changed the world, affecting all aspects of life. Twentieth century modernism incorporated new inventions that changed the modes of travel, it restructured methods of production and the way in which ...

Soft Hardware, Flowing Software: Reconfigurable Microfluidics for Adaptable Chemical Computation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A reconfigurable microfluidic platform based on soft, photo‐printable, and chemically erasable hydrogel structures printed and erased in situ is used to control flow routing, mixing, chemical patterning, and even chemical computing. Using hardware to control chemical computations decouples logic function from molecular composition, demonstrated via ...

Modern Architecture in the (re)Making of History. Schools and Museums in Greece [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Challenging the long-established idea of the Mediterranean as the cradle of modern architecture, this contribution argues that due consideration should be given to moments of profound change, thereby splitting the Mediterranean into its fragments. We may

Ferroelectric Dynamic‐Field‐Driven Nucleation and Growth Model for Predictive Materials‐To‐Circuit Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a compact dynamic‐field‐driven nucleation and growth (DFNG) model that captures ferroelectric switching behavior under arbitrary voltage waveforms. It enables extraction of time‐dependent domain wall velocity and growth dimensionality, which can then be extended to device‐level modeling.

Cell Adhesion by Design: Engineering Tissue Culture Scaffolds With Adhesion Cues

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In scaffold‐based tissue engineering, the matrix should provide adequate adhesion cues for cell attachment, spreading, and function. Given the multitude of adhesion receptors and the diversity of scaffolds, there are many approaches to render scaffolds adhesive, even though they are not all equivalent.

The modern image as a producer and product of modern architecture: Marcel Gautherot’s and Mario Fontenelle’s documentary photographs of the construction of Brasilia

open access: yes, 2016
This paper aims to examine the photographic images taken by Marcelle Gautherot and Mario Fontenelle for the publications brasília and Módulo, periodicals established during the construction of Brasília in the 1950s to justify the construction and to ...

A 3D‐Printed Blister Test Platform for Quantifying Biointerface Adhesion Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed blister platform enables energy‐resolved characterization of soft hydrogel–rigid interfaces. Integrating precision pressure control with hyperelastic modeling directly quantifies adhesion energy (G) and R‐curve toughening. Results reveal that modulating hydrogel concentration and surface roughness drives a tunable transition from cohesive ...
