Energy security and shifting modes of governance [PDF]
The concept of energy security fits uneasily into contemporary security debates. It is neither a clearly traditional nor a fully ‘non-traditional’ security issue. There are also limits to the social constructedness of the concept.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Introduction to Studies on Pre-Capitalist Modes of Production: Debates, Controversies and Lines of Argument [PDF]
This book analyses a variety of historical problems related to pre-capitalist societies and explores both the concept and the range of modes of production arising from the writings of Marx and Engels and subsequent Marxist elaborations.

Dependence of GaN Exciton Energy on Temperature
In this paper, we investigate the relationship between GaN exciton energy and temperature by using high-quality, strain-free GaN epilayers. Traditional models, such as Varshni’s model and the Bose–Einstein model, are primarily based on empirical fitting ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Eigenvalue counting estimates for a class of linear spectral pencils with applications to zero modes [PDF]
Consider a linear spectral pencil of the form P(−i∇)− zQ(x), z ∈ C. If P−1 ∈ weak-Lp and Q ∈ Lp for some 1 < p

Perceptual thresholds for the effects of room modes as a function of modal decay [PDF]
Room modes cause audible artefacts in listening environments. Modal control approaches have emerged in scientific literature over the years and, often, their performance is measured by criteria that may be perceptually unfounded.

Reconstructing a time series into a complex network can help uncover the dynamic information hidden in the time series. Previous studies mainly focused on the long-term relationship between two energy prices, and traditional econometric methods poorly ...

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified
