Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Computation of Real Normal Modes from Complex Eigenvectors
A method for the computation of real normal modes from complex eigenvectors is described in this paper. The method is based on the exact eigensystem equations, which commonly cannot be used due the problem of modal truncation.

On the experience and evidence about mixing modes of data collection in large-scale surveys where the web is used as one of the modes in data collection [PDF]
This paper presents experience and evidence, from international sources, of the effects on survey quality of the use of mixed modes in data collection, where the web is used as one of the modes.

An efficient k-modes algorithm for clustering categorical datasets
Mining clusters from data is an important endeavor in many applications. The k-means method is a popular, efficient, and distribution-free approach for clustering numerical-valued data, but does not apply for categorical-valued observations.

Method of proportioning the cement-water ratio of steam-cured concrete
The article presents the results of experimental studies that made it possible to substantiate the calculated dependences of the steam-cured concrete strength and the required values of the cement-water ratio (C/W) to ensure the specified strength values.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Difference limen for the Q-factor of room modes
A subjective test study was carried out in order to identify the perceptibility of changes in the Q-factor of room modes. The experimental technique concentrates on the identification of difference limen for three levels of Q-factor referring to modes in

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
