Current Protocols in Protein Science, 1996
AbstractThis unit describes a number of methods for modifying cysteine residues of proteins and peptides by reduction and alkylation procedures. A general procedure for alkylation of cysteine residues in a protein of known size and composition with haloacyl reagents or N‐ethylmaleimide (NEM) is presented, and alternate protocols describe similar ...

Histones and Their Modification
Critical Reviews in Biochemistry, 1986Histones constitute the protein core around which DNA is coiled to form the basic structural unit of the chromosome known as the nucleosome. Because of the large amount of new histone needed during chromosome replication, the synthesis of histone and DNA is regulated in a complex manner.

Up to 2% of the mammalian proteome is post-translationally modified with isoprenes (Gelb 1997). The first prenylated polypeptides reported were secreted pheromone peptides identified in jelly fungi (Sakagami et al. 1978; Tsuchiya et al. 1978). The structure of these peptides resembled the a-factor mating pheromone from S.

Dermatologic Clinics, 1995
The goal of photochemotherapy in psoriasis is to attempt to lower the number of exposures and the total cumulative doses while still maintaining good control of the disease. PUVA has been modified by using better psoralen preparations and more effective light sources, and it also has been combined with other treatment modalities.

A relator \(\mathbf R\) on the set \(X\) is defined to be a family of binary relations on the set \(X\). The ordered pair \(X({\mathbf R})=(X,{\mathbf R})\) is said to be a relator space. Various basic concepts are defined for relators and some theorems concerning the relationships and connections between the defined concepts are proved.

MODIFICATIONS OF THE TELLUROMETER
The Canadian Surveyor, 1958A modification of the Tellurometer permits operation in heavily wooded areas without the necessity of cutting survey lines. It involves separating the radio antenna from the instrument by two cables and placing it at the top of a mast above tree-top level. Modifications to allow operation at sub-zero temperatures are also described.

Summary: Structural modification studies the relationship between the modal properties and spatial properties of a structure. Thanks to the rapid development of experimental modal analysis technology, structural modification has become a technique both for structure problem solving and for design optimization.

A MODIFICATION OF THE RESPIRATOR
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1948The respirator1in widest use consists of a box in which one places the patient in order to subject his body to alternating positive and negative (or zero and negative) pressures. These changes in pressure cause air to pass in and out of the lungs, as the respiratory system of the patient is in communication with the air outside the box.
