Study on Rheological Properties and Modification Mechanism of Budun Rock Asphalt/Nano-Silica Composite Modified Asphalt

open access: yes
To enhance the high and low-temperature performance of asphalt materials and extend the service life of asphalt pavement, two types of external admixtures, Butonite rock asphalt, and nano-silica are added to the asphalt.

Neuroferritinopathy: From ferritin structure modification to pathogenetic mechanism

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2015
Neuroferritinopathy is a rare, late-onset, dominantly inherited movement disorder caused by mutations in L-ferritin gene. It is characterized by iron and ferritin aggregate accumulation in brain, normal or low serum ferritin levels and high variable ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

O-GlcNAcase:promiscuous hexosaminidase or key regulator of O-GlcNAc signalling? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
O-GlcNAc signalling is regulated by an opposing pair of enzymes: O-GlcNAc transferase (OGT) instals, and O-GlcNAcase (OGA) removes the modification from proteins.

Mechanism and Performance Characterization of Dry-Process Asphalt Mixtures Modified with LDPE/EVA/SBS Composite Particles

open access: yesNanomaterials
This study employed a dry-process method to prepare SBS/recycled LDPE/EVA composite-modified particles (CMP) for asphalt mixture modification. Conventional performance tests, including penetration tests, determined the optimal CMP dosage to be 8% by mass

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Study on interfacial mechanical properties of modified fiber reinforced mine spraying air leakage material

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan
The existing inorganic spray air leakage sealing materials are prone to cracking and forming air leakage cracks. Modifying the fibers containing non-polar groups and adding them to cement-based materials can effectively reduce the occurrence of air ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Mechanisms of Histone Modifications

open access: yes, 2022
In eukaryotic genomes, DNA is condensed in the form of chromatin. While chromatin is fundamentally a protective structure, it constitutes a challenge for all major cellular functions, for which interaction with the DNA sequence is a necessary requirement.
