Formulation of a T-Matrix Approach for a Piecewise-Homogeneous Anisotropic Medium Excited by a Spherical Sound Wave

open access: yesMathematics, 2023
A piecewise-homogeneous medium, consisting of anisotropic layers, is excited by a primary spherical sound wave due to a point source lying in the exterior of the medium or in one of its layers.

Solution of the modified Helmholtz equation using mixed boundary conditions in an equilateral triangle

open access: yesPartial Differential Equations in Applied Mathematics
The modified Helmholtz equation qxx+qyy−4β2q=0, is one of the basic equations of classical mathematical physics. In this paper we have obtained the solution of the boundary-value problems for the modified Helmholtz equation in an equilateral triangle. An

On mean value properties involving a logarithm-type weight [PDF]

open access: yesMathematica Bohemica
Two new assertions characterizing analytically disks in the Euclidean plane $\mathbb{R}^2$ are proved. Weighted mean value property of positive solutions to the Helmholtz and modified Helmholtz equations are used for this purpose; the weight has a ...

The Solution of the modified Helmholtz equation in a wedge and an application to diffusion-limited coalescence [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters A, 1999
The general solution of the modified Helmholtz equation, q_{xx}(x,y)+q_{yy}(x,y)-4b^2q(x,y)=0, in the wedge 0 < x < y < infinity, is presented. This solution is used to find the explicit steady-state of diffusion-limited coalescence, A+AA, on the half-line, with a trap-source at the origin.

Method of fundamental solutions for Neumann problems of the modified Helmholtz equation in disk domains

open access: yes, 2022
The method of the fundamental solutions (MFS) is used to construct an approximate solution for a partial differential equation in a bounded domain. It is demonstrated by combining the fundamental solutions shifted to the points outside the domain and ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

RNA Sequencing Resolves Cryptic Pathogenic Variants in Mitochondrial Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Mitochondrial diseases are the most common inherited metabolic disorders, characterized by pronounced clinical and genetic heterogeneity that complicates molecular diagnosis. Although DNA‐based sequencing approaches have become standard in genetic testing, up to half of patients remain without a definitive diagnosis.

A simplified two-dimensional boundary element method with arbitrary uniform mean flow

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2017
To reduce computational costs, an improved form of the frequency domain boundary element method (BEM) is proposed for two-dimensional radiation and propagation acoustic problems in a subsonic uniform flow with arbitrary orientation. The boundary integral
