Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Numerical optimizing noise damping performances of Helmholtz resonators with a rigid baffle implemented at neck in presence of a grazing flow

open access: yesJournal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control, 2022
As an applicable noise attenuator, Helmholtz resonator is mainly used to dampen acoustic noise at low- and medium-frequency ranges. It is typically implemented in combustion-engines and gas turbines to dampen thermoacoustic instabilities. However, it has

RNA Sequencing Resolves Cryptic Pathogenic Variants in Mitochondrial Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Mitochondrial diseases are the most common inherited metabolic disorders, characterized by pronounced clinical and genetic heterogeneity that complicates molecular diagnosis. Although DNA‐based sequencing approaches have become standard in genetic testing, up to half of patients remain without a definitive diagnosis.

Matric Flux Potential in Time Independent Infiltration Problems from a Single Triangular and a Trapezoidal Irrigation Channel

open access: yesJTAM (Jurnal Teori dan Aplikasi Matematika)
In this paper, steady infiltration problems into a homogeneous soil from a single triangular and trapezoidal irrigation channel are considered. The governing equation is Richard's equation that represents the movement of water in unsaturated soil.

A simplified two-dimensional boundary element method with arbitrary uniform mean flow

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2017
To reduce computational costs, an improved form of the frequency domain boundary element method (BEM) is proposed for two-dimensional radiation and propagation acoustic problems in a subsonic uniform flow with arbitrary orientation. The boundary integral

Integral transformation solution of free-space cylindrical vector beams and prediction of modified-Bessel-Gaussian vector beams

open access: yes, 2007
A unified description of the free-space cylindrical vector beams is presented, which is an integral transformation solution to the vector Helmholtz equation and the transversality condition.

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...

Zel'dovich approximation and General Relativity

open access: yes, 2012
We show how the Zel'dovich approximation and the second order displacement field of Lagrangian perturbation theory can be obtained from a general relativistic gradient expansion in \Lambda{}CDM cosmology.
