Cubic Rank Transmuted Modified Burr III Pareto Distribution: Development, Properties, Characterizations and Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, a flexible lifetime distribution called Cubic rank transmuted modified Burr III-Pareto (CRTMBIII-P) is developed on the basis of the cubic ranking transmutation map.

Co-Channel Interference Cancellation in OFDM Networks using Coordinated Symbol Repetition and Soft Decision MLE CCI Canceler

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper, a new scheme of downlink co-channel interference (CCI) cancellation in OFDM cellular networks is introduced for users at the cell-edge.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

A Modified Multiplicative Thinning-Based INARCH Model: Properties, Saddlepoint Maximum Likelihood Estimation, and Application

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
In this article, we propose a modified multiplicative thinning-based integer-valued autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity model and use the saddlepoint maximum likelihood estimation (SPMLE) method to estimate parameters.

Optical Cluster-Finding with An Adaptive Matched-Filter Technique: Algorithm and Comparison with Simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We present a modified adaptive matched filter algorithm designed to identify clusters of galaxies in wide-field imaging surveys such as the Sloan Digital Sky Survey.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Item Parameter Estimation in Multistage Designs: A Comparison of Different Estimation Approaches for the Rasch Model

open access: yesPsych, 2021
There is some debate in the psychometric literature about item parameter estimation in multistage designs. It is occasionally argued that the conditional maximum likelihood (CML) method is superior to the marginal maximum likelihood method (MML) because ...

Modeling left-truncated and right-censored survival data with longitudinal covariates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
There is a surge in medical follow-up studies that include longitudinal covariates in the modeling of survival data. So far, the focus has been largely on right-censored survival data.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
