An Adaptive Multiple Shooting Strategy for Optimal Control

open access: yesOptimal Control Applications and Methods, EarlyView.
We study how multiple shooting affects the convergence of Newton‐type methods for optimal control, comparing several shooting strategies across 40 benchmark problems. The study covers interior‐point and sequential quadratic programming methods with both Quasi‐Newton approximations and exact Hessians.

Clarifying Public Policy for Stronger Public Administration in Development

open access: yesPublic Administration and Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Public policy is ubiquitous, yet its meaning is often unclear. This ambiguity is not just conceptual. Because policy work is a large part of what public administrations do, how we define policy shapes how we structure and organize our administrative mechanisms.

‘We want to be the hosts of this story’: Learning from community‐led approaches to data governance of land use for nature recovery

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Debates abound regarding how to use land for nature recovery and environmental governance. Such decisions require an understanding of benefits and trade‐offs, and increasingly rely on vast quantities of data, delivered through digital technologies.

Buildings as accidental habitat: Where animals nest, sleep and forage

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Animals have long inhabited human buildings alongside us, but our understanding comes from isolated studies, such as reports of a possum in the roof or a bat in our walls. What we lack is the building's perspective: which building features actually serve as habitat and for whom?

Comparative Analysis of Post‐Buckling Torsional Response in Carbon/Aramid Hybrid and Carbon Fiber Composites: Experimental Evaluation of Synergistic Effects Beyond Macro‐Scale Modeling Limits

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Post‐buckling torsional response of carbon fiber (a) and intraply carbon/aramid hybrid (b) composites, revealing yarn‐level interaction beyond macro‐scale modeling limits. ABSTRACT This study investigates the buckling and post‐buckling performance of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Epoxy (CFRE) and intraply Carbon/Aramid Fabric Reinforced Epoxy (C/AFRE ...
