Modified suction caisson is a new type of suction foundation for offshore wind power engineering. Model tests were carried out to investigate the variation of cumulative rotation angle and its influencing factors of the regular suction caisson (RSC) and

A suction caisson can be extracted by applying reverse pumping water, which cannot be regarded as the reverse process of installation because of the dramatically different soil-structure interaction behavior. Model tests were first carried out in this study to investigate the extraction behavior of the modified suction caisson (MSC) and the regular ...

Failure modes and inclined bearing capacity of a modified suction caisson in sand
Experiments and simulations are undertaken on the bearing behavior of a modified suction caisson (MSC) in sand under inclined load. Results show that the MSC movement modes include forward rotation, backward rotation, translations mainly along the ...

Lateral bearing characteristics of modified suction caisson embedded in layered soil
:: Model tests and numerical simulations were conducted to investigate the lateral bearing characteristics of a modified suction caisson (MSC) in layered soil. The impacts of the loading eccentricity and the soil layer distribution on the lateral bearing

Microtissue‐Based Bioink as a Chondrocyte Microshelter for DLP Bioprinting
A novel microtissue bioink with good printability and cellular viability maintenance for digital light processing (DLP) bioprinting is introduced. The microtissue bioink exhibits desired mechanical properties, swelling ratio, and has almost no influences on printability. For instance, a DLP bioprinted ear with a precise auricle structure using microtia

Model tests on penetration and extration of modified suction caissons in clay
A series of model tests are conducted to investigate the installation and extraction behavior of the modified suction casson(MSC) embedded in marine clay by taking the MSC dimensions, shear strength of clay and installation method into account.

The modified suction caisson (MSC) is a novel type of foundation for ocean engineering, consisting of a short external closed-top cylinder-shaped structure surrounding the upper part of the regular suction caisson (RSC). The MSC can provide larger lateral bearing capacity and limit the deflection compared with the RSC.

Revisions to the Classification, Nomenclature, and Diversity of Eukaryotes
Abstract This revision of the classification of eukaryotes follows that of Adl et al., 2012 [J. Euk. Microbiol. 59(5)] and retains an emphasis on protists. Changes since have improved the resolution of many nodes in phylogenetic analyses. For some clades even families are being clearly resolved.
