Porphyrin-Modified Polyethersulfone Ultrafiltration Membranes for Enhanced Bacterial Inactivation and Filtration Performance

open access: yesMembranes
Municipal wastewaters pose a severe risk to the environment and human health when discharged untreated. This is due to their high content of pathogens, such as viruses and bacteria, which can cause diseases like cholera.

NIR‐II Imaging‐Guided Photothermal Activation of a TRPV4‐Targeted Nanoplatform Delivering Cycloastragenol to Promote Microglia Reprogramming and α‐Synuclein Clearance in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Current therapies for Parkinson's disease (PD) fail to concurrently address α‐synuclein (α‐syn) aggregation and microglia‐mediated neuroinflammation. Herein, we engineer a near‐infrared‐II (NIR‐II) phototheranostic nanoplatform, CAG/FD1080@MM‐aTRPV4, for synergistic regulation of microglial function and real‐time monitoring of PD pathology. We

Modular Assembly of Dynamic Polymer Networks From Heteroaffinity Cross‐Links to Multivalent Proteins

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This study develops a method to modularly assemble oligomeric binding proteins, like streptavidin, using heterobifunctional cross‐linkers that have both a strong‐ and a weak‐affinity binding moiety. These dynamic cross‐linkers enable the assembly of polymer networks with unique meta‐stable nonequilibrium topologies, and that exhibit chemically tunable ...

G4‐Ligand‐Directed PROTACs Unveil DR1 as a Novel Ligand‐Co‐Binding G4‐Protein and Reshape G4‐Dependent Transcription

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
G4‐binding proteins (G4BPs) that specifically co‐bind G4s in the presence of small‐molecule ligands represent a critical but unexplored class of proteins. We introduce G4‐Ligand‐Directed PROTACs (G4L‐TACs), a chemical platform that couples G4 ligands (PDS) to E3 recruiters to selectively degrade these ligand‐co‐binding G4BPs.

Engineered Bacteria‐Vesicle Delivered Lactate Reprogramming Boosts Tumor Radiosensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We engineered a bacterial‐vesicular dual‐delivery platform that targets LOx to colorectal tumors, enabling lactate clearance, immune microenvironment remodeling, and microbiota modulation. This microbe–metabolism synergistic strategy effectively sensitizes colorectal cancer to radiotherapy, offering a promising approach to overcome radioresistance ...

Investigation of the Confinement Odour Problem in Exported Lamb using NMR-based Metabolomics : A thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Chemistry at Massey University, Manawatū, New Zealand. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Recent changes to the supply chain practices of meat exporters has increased the potential for consumers to be exposed to the phenomenon of confinement odour, the smell produced by vacuum or modified atmosphere packaged meat which has been chilled and ...

Real‐Time In Vivo Visualization of Tumor‐Associated Macrophage Reprogramming Using a Nitric Oxide‐Activatable NIR‐II Nanoinducer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Reprogramming tumor‐associated macrophages is a promising therapeutic strategy for solid tumors. Here, a nitric oxide (NO)‐activatable NIR‐II fluorescence/photoacoustic nanoinducer (I/E@M2pep) that simultaneously facilitates and visualizes the repolarization of TAMs to an M1‐like phenotype is reported, thereby enhancing anti‐tumor efficacy through M1 ...

Stem cells and fluid flow drive cyst formation in an invertebrate excretory organ.

open access: yes, 2015
Cystic kidney diseases (CKDs) affect millions of people worldwide. The defining pathological features are fluid-filled cysts developing from nephric tubules due to defective flow sensing, cell proliferation and differentiation.
