Hydrogen influence on material interaction with ZDDP and MoDTC lubricant additives
Wear, 2013Abstract In this paper the interaction of lubricant additives with hydrogen at the frictional interface has been investigated. Three different states of the base AISI 52100 alloy steel have been tested: untreated, nitrided and sulphonitrided, with different combinations of PAO6 base oil and ZDDP/MoDTC (Zinc DialkylDithioPhosphate and Molybdenum ...

Boundary Lubrication Mechanisms of Molybdenum Film by MoDTC and ZDDP Additives
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015Molybdenum (Mo) film is deposited by Ion Beam Assisted Deposition (IBAD) on the 316L steel substrate surface in this experiment. The micro structure and nanohardness of the film are tested by Scanning Electronic Microscope (SEM) and nanoindentation tester.

The Effect of MoDTC for Improving the Fuel Economy of Diesel Engine Systems
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2015<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">This study examines friction reducing and fuel economy improving performance of MoDTC with heavy duty diesel engine oil (HDDO) using several friction tests and fleet trucks. As a result, a fuel economy improvement of approximately 2 % was observed without any negative influence ...

Study Tribological Properties of MoDTC and Its Interactions With Metal Detergents
Journal of Tribology, 2020Abstract Recently, the synergistic tribological properties between molybdenum dialkyldithiocarbamate (MoDTC) and metal detergents have been the focus of significant attention due to the high requirements of engine oil. In this study, an SRV tribometer and four-ball machine were used to study the tribological performance of MoDTC combined

Ageing impact on tribological properties of MoDTC-containing base oil
Tribology International, 2015Abstract Since last decades, there is an industry-wide need for the comprehension of how degradation affects lubricant tribological performance. The lubricating performances of MoDTC-containing base oil, fresh and aged, have been assessed using reciprocating tribometer, and XPS and TEM have been used to characterize the tribofilm formed.

Boundary lubrication mechanisms of carbon coatings by MoDTC and ZDDP additives
Tribology International, 2005Abstract Fuel economy and reduction of harmful elements in lubricants are becoming important issues in the automotive industry. An approach to respond to these requirements is the potential use of low friction coatings in engine components exposed to boundary lubrication conditions.

Effect of oxidative degradation on mechanisms of friction reduction by MoDTC
2002Abstract Friction-reducing properties of MoDTC-containing lubricants have been investigated as a function of their oxidative degradation state. The oxidation test is conducted with oxygen and nitrogen oxide gases simulating aged engines oils during service.

Superlow friction of high mileage used oil with CuDTC in presence of MoDTC
Industrial Lubrication and Tribology, 2017Purpose The purpose of this paper is to improve the antifriction and antiabrasive behavior of the used oil through the addition of a lubricant. Design/methodology/approach The author selected 85W-90 used oil with three kinds of 4,758, 10,507 and 16,223 km mileages, which may represent run-in wear period, steady-state wear period and rapid wear for ...
