Modular conception and construction

open access: yes, 2020
The factsheet gives a high-level definition of designing solar thermal systems for district heating. In addition, modules are introduced which can be used for modelling systems and finally, methods for estimating energy yield and costs of systems are described.

Intrapatient tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution in an autopsy study of metastatic salivary gland cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution of metastatic salivary gland cancer were evaluated in two patients with adenoid carcinoma and one patient with myoepithelial carcinoma. Radiology‐guided autopsy enabled multi‐region sampling (total samples n = 149), followed by whole‐genome sequencing and phylogenetic reconstruction (17 tumour samples, 4–7 per ...

Automated FRAP microscopy for high‐throughput analysis of protein dynamics in chromatin organization and transcription

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoboMic is an automated confocal microscopy pipeline for high‐throughput functional imaging in living cells. Demonstrated with fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP), it integrates AI‐driven nuclear segmentation, ROI selection, bleaching, and analysis.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Constructing modular separating invariants

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 2009
Consider a finite dimensional representation \(V\) of a group \(G\) over a field \(F\). The induced action on the dual \(V^*\) extends to an action by algebra automorphisms on the symmetric algebra \(F[V]:=S(V^*)\). The elements of \(F[V]\) represent polynomial functions on \(V\). An invariant polynomial \(f\in F[V]^G\) is constant on \(G\)-orbits. For

Modular brain construction [PDF]

open access: yesScience, 2016
Neurodevelopment The mammalian cerebellum looks complex on the surface, with a stereotypical pattern of lobules and fissures. Although its subregions all seem to use similar types of cells, tracts coming from elsewhere in the brain target distinct portions of the cerebellum, suggesting that surface formations reflect functional zones.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Inspection of intermodular connection locations for multistory modular buildings

open access: yesMeasurement + Control
Modular construction is a method of construction that involves prefabricating modular indoor spaces in a factory and then assembling them at the construction site.
