Grid connection of Modular Multilevel converter
2016 IEEE 1st International Conference on Power Electronics, Intelligent Control and Energy Systems (ICPEICES), 2016This paper presents the detailed understanding of Modular Multilevel converters for its applications in HVDC and FACTS. Along with this, mathematical model of the converter in state space representation is presented. Scalability and modular nature of this configuration are making it a promising VSI topology in high power applications.

Modular Mesh Generation with Embedded Streamline Potential Grids
SPE Reservoir Simulation Symposium, 1999Abstract Reservoir grid generation can be simplified by decomposing the domain into a set of subdomains such that modular grid generation can be performed within each subdomain. The question of how to decompose the domain is addressed. Streamline-potential coordinates form an integral part of our domain decomposition strategy.

Control of modular microgrids by varying grid frequency
2017 IEEE Manchester PowerTech, 2017The increasing number of distributed energy resources, energy storage systems and controllable loads, summarized as decentralized actors (DAs), causes new challenges for grid operation and planning. At the same time, it leads to new capabilities of forming microgrids (MGs) with controllable generation, consumption and storage functionalities in public ...

A modular framework for cost optimization in smart grid
2014 IEEE World Forum on Internet of Things (WF-IoT), 2014A smart power grid transforms the traditional electric grid into a user centric, intelligent power network. This paper addresses the cost optimization problem in the smart grid from the users' perspective. A home owner can install diverse energy generators and storage devices to reduce the dependency on external energy sources.

Modeling of modular multilevel converter for grid application
2017 4th International Conference on Power, Control & Embedded Systems (ICPCES), 2017Modular Multilevel Converter is a widely accepted technology for HVDC applications. It consists of several sub-modules or cells connected in cascade. These are bidirectional chopper cells and each one of them has a floating capacitor. This paper discusses the modulation and voltage balancing strategies which are essential for the converter to work as ...

Grid disturbance analysis with Modular Load Flow
2016 IEEE 6th International Conference on Power Systems (ICPS), 2016Iterative load flow (ILF) is ill-suited for analyzing conditions immediately preceding blackouts since reactive power capacities of most generators are most likely exhausted. This makes choice of PV buses and specifying their voltages difficult. Improper voltage specifications at PV buses may result in non-convergence of ILF. We propose a non-iterative

Modular Fabrication of Par & Pau Module Grids
The modular fabrication of Pre-Assembled Units(PAU) and Pre Assembled Racks (PAR) is revolutionizingindustrial construction by improving efficiency, reducingcosts, and enhancing safety. PAUs are large, prefabricatedsections of a facility that integrate multiple systems, includingpiping, electrical, and structural components, while PARs arepre-assembledMr.V.Muthukumar +3 more

A DC/DC modular-multilevel converter for DC grid
2017 19th European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications (EPE'17 ECCE Europe), 2017A modular-multilevel (MMC) DC/DC converter is proposed in this paper, which can be deployed to inter-connect DC grid of different voltage levels, especially in the new energy sources such as wind power and solar power grid connection. Its key features include: 1) step-up and step-down operation. 2) bidirectional power flowing.

A modular shadow-gridded high power switch tube
1987 International Electron Devices Meeting, 1987This paper describes the design and performance of a novel magnetless high power switch tube. The basic device has an operational microperveance of over 280 in the on-mode (for a low switch voltage drop at high levels of transmitted current). Further, it can hold off voltages up to and beyond 25 kv in the off-mode.
