Degradation of modulation and noise characteristics of semiconductor lasers after propagation in optical fiber due to a phase-shift induced by stimulated Brillouin scattering [PDF]
Here we demonstrate theoretically that stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) can induce a phase shift of the optical carrier relative to its sidebands due to the waveguiding effect of the optical fiber on the acoustic wave.

Nanodiamonds are widely tested as convenient drug delivery systems because they are nontoxic, biocompatible, and can easily carry various biomolecules. However, their effect on living systems is not fully explored.

Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Let R be a ring. An R-module M is called a (weak) duo module provided every (direct summand) submodule of M is fully invariant. It is proved that if R is a commutative domain with field of fractions K then a torsion-free uniform R-module is a duo module if and only if every element k in K such that kM is contained in M belongs to R.

We introduce the new concept of silting modules. These modules generalise tilting modules over an arbitrary ring, as well as support $ $-tilting modules over a finite dimensional algebra recently introduced by Adachi, Iyama and Reiten. We show that silting modules generate torsion classes that provide left approximations, and that every partial ...

We introduce and study "quasidualizing" modules. An artinian R-module T is quasidualizing if the homothety map \hat R\rightarrow Hom(T,T) is an isomorphism and Ext_R^i(T,T)=0 for each integer i>0. Quasidualizing modules are associated to semidualizing modules via Matlis duality.

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Modulation Identification and Carrier Recovery System for Adaptive Modulation in Satellite Communications [PDF]
We introduce the modulation identification technique implementing the multimode phase locked loop (PLL) in the satellite communication using adaptive modulation scheme which is a countermeasure against the rain attenuation.

Multidimensional Index Modulation in Wireless Communications
In index modulation schemes, information bits are conveyed through indexing of transmission entities such as antennas, subcarriers, times slots, precoders, subarrays, and radio frequency (RF) mirrors.
