Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

MEDIUM-POWER DRIVE INSTALLATIONS BASED ON TRIPLE VOLTAGE SOURCE INVERTERS ADJUSTED BY ALGORITHMS OF SYNCHRONOUS MULTI-ZONE PWM

open access: yesТехнічна електродинаміка
This paper presents short overview of the development and dissemination of specialized schemes and algorithms of space-vector-based synchronous multi-zone pulsewidth modulation (MZ PWM) for control of triple inverters of the medium-power variable speed ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

An Improved Near-State Pulse-Width Modulation with Low Switching Loss for a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine Drive System

open access: yesEnergies
Common-mode voltage (CMV) leads to the shaft voltage and shaft current by coupling the capacitor network in the permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM), which affects the reliability of the whole motor drive system.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Input-Modulation as an Alternative to Conventional Learning Strategies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Animals use various strategies for learning stimulus-reward associations. Computational methods that mimic animal behaviour most commonly interpret learning as a high level phenomenon, in which the pairing of stimulus and reward leads to plastic changes in the final output layers where action selection takes place. Here, we present an alternative input-

A wavelet modulation method for a quasi-Z-source inverter

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2017
A wavelet modulation strategy applied to a quasi-Z-source inverter was proposed. The regulating range of the shootthrough duty ratio could be increased by changing the locations of the sampling points set using traditional wavelet-modulation.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...
