Alexander Modules [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1984
The Alexander modules of a link are the homology groups of the universal abelian cover of the complement of the link. For a link of n n -spheres in S n + 2 {S^{n + 2}} , we show that, if n ⩾ 2 n \geqslant 2

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Diselenophene‐Dithioalkylthiophene Based Quinoidal Small Molecules for Ambipolar Organic Field Effect Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Science
This work presents a series of novel quinoidal organic semiconductors based on diselenophene‐dithioalkylthiophene (DSpDST) conjugated cores with various side‐chain lengths (‐thiohexyl, ‐thiodecyl, and ‐thiotetradecyl, designated DSpDSTQ‐6, DSpDSTQ‐10 ...

Commutants of von Neumann Modules, Representations of B^a(E) and Other Topics Related to Product Systems of Hilbert Modules

open access: yes, 2003
We review some of our results from the theory of product systems of Hilbert modules. We explain that the product systems obtained from a CP-semigroup in a paper by Bhat and Skeide and in a paper by Muhly and Solel are commutants of each other.

Crossed Modules

open access: yesNotices of the American Mathematical Society, 2023
This is an overview of the idea of a crossed module. For a group, the triple that consists of the group, its group of automorphisms, and the canonical homomorphism from the group to its group of automorphisms constitutes a crossed module. Crossed modules arise from the identities among the relations of the presentation of a group, from the extension ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Developing genetic learning module based on blue eyes phenomenon in Buton Island, Southeast Sulawesi

open access: yesJPBI (Jurnal Pendidikan Biologi Indonesia), 2019
The existence of learning resources based on local phenomena is presumed to be able to optimize genetic learning processes. The purposes of this study were (1) to produce module based on the blue eyes phenomenon occurred in Buton Island for genetic ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
