The space of twisted cubics [PDF]

open access: yesÉpijournal de Géométrie Algébrique, 2021
We consider the Cohen-Macaulay compactification of the space of twisted cubics in projective n-space. This compactification is the fine moduli scheme representing the functor of CM-curves with Hilbert polynomial 3t+1. We show that the moduli scheme of CM-

On quaternionic tori and their moduli space [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Noncommutative Geometry, 2018
Quaternionic tori are defined as quotients of the skew field \mathbb H of quaternions by rank-4 lattices. Using slice regular functions, these tori are endowed with natural structures of quaternionic manifolds (in fact quaternionic curves), and a fundamental region in a 12-dimensional ...

Non-abelian vortices on CP^1 and Grassmannians [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Many properties of the moduli space of abelian vortices on a compact Riemann surface are known. For non-abelian vortices the moduli space is less well understood. Here we consider non-abelian vortices on the Riemann sphere CP^1, and we study their moduli

Revisiting the refined Distance Conjecture

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
The Distance Conjecture of Ooguri and Vafa holds that any infinite-distance limit in the moduli space of a quantum gravity theory must be accompanied by a tower of exponentially light particles, which places tight constraints on the low-energy effective ...

On the curvature of vortex moduli spaces [PDF]

open access: yesMathematische Zeitschrift, 2014
We use algebraic topology to investigate local curvature properties of the moduli spaces of gauged vortices on a closed Riemann surface. After computing the homotopy type of the universal cover of the moduli spaces (which are symmetric powers of the surface), we prove that, for genus g>1, the holomorphic bisectional curvature of the vortex metrics ...

On the moduli space of superminimal surfaces in spheres

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2003
Using a birational correspondence between the twistor space of S2n and projective space, we describe, up to birational equivalence, the moduli space of superminimal surfaces in S2n of degree d as curves of degree d in projective space satisfying a ...

The moduli space of thickenings [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 2012
This paper studies the homotopy type of the moduli space of compact n-manifold thickenings of a finite complex. The main result computes the homotopy fibers of the stabilization map from n-thickenings to (n+1)-thickenings in a wide range. In particular, we obtain an EHP-type sequence for thickenings extending work of C.T.C. Wall.

Music of moduli spaces

open access: yesEMS Surveys in Mathematical Sciences, 2023
A musical instrument, the plastic hormonica, is defined here as a birthday present for Dennis Sullivan, who pioneered and helped popularize the hyperbolic geometry underlying its construction. This plastic hormonica is based upon the Farey tessellation of the Poincaré disk decorated by its standard osculating horocycles centered at the ...

Special geometry on the 101 dimesional moduli space of the quintic threefold

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
A new method for explicit computation of the CY moduli space metric was proposed by the authors recently. The method makes use of the connection of the moduli space with a certain Frobenius algebra.

Moduli space reconstruction and Weak Gravity

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
We present a method to construct the extended Kähler cone of any Calabi-Yau threefold by using Gopakumar-Vafa invariants to identify all geometric phases that are related by flops or Weyl reflections. In this way we obtain the Kähler moduli spaces of all
