Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

The elastic modulus for maize stems
Background Stalk lodging is a serious challenge in the production of maize and sorghum. A comprehensive understanding of lodging will likely require accurate characterizations of the mechanical properties of such plants.

INCREASED MOE AND MOR VALUES OF DENSIFIED BOARDS USING MOE/MOR AND MOR/MOE RATIOS
Densification is one of the effective techniques for improving the strength of low wood density. This technique is the process of pressing wood so that it increases in volume but decreases in density.

This study introduces a novel multi‐scale scaffold design using L‐fractals arranged in Archimedean tessellations for tissue regeneration. Despite similar porosity, tiles display vastly different tensile responses (1–100 MPa) and deformation modes. In vitro experiments with hMSCs show geometry‐dependent growth and activity. Over 55 000 tile combinations

Elastic properties and electronic structures of antiperovskite-type InNCo3 and InNNi3
We have performed the first-principles calculations to study the elasticity, electronic structure, and magnetism of InNCo3 and InNNi3. The independent elastic constants are derived from the second derivative of total energy as a function of strain, and ...

Most matter is nominally frozen in the polar regions or space, and liquid crystal materials are no exception. Consequently, soft actuators, including liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs), are inoperative under such extreme cold in response to stimuli, as their motion relies on mechanical deformation.

Uniaxial compression test of cement asphalt (CA) mortar specimens, due to drying and wetting cycle of 0, 2, 4 and 8 times, is carried out by using the electronic universal test machine, with the strain rate ranging from 1 × 10−5 s−1 to 1 × 10−2 s−1.

This article focus on “blended cement”. The blended cement was created by using waste marble powder (WMP) as a partial replacement for cement. We investigated the influence of WMP on the developing of the dynamic modulus of elasticity and the dynamic ...

Resonant Acoustic Determination of Complex Elastic Moduli [PDF]
A simple, inexpensive, yet accurate method for measuring the dynamic complex modulus of elasticity is described. Using a 'free-free' bar selectively excited in three independent vibrational modes, the shear modulus is obtained by measuring the frequency ...
