Propagation of erroneous data for the modulus of elasticity of periodontal ligament and gutta percha in FEM/FEA papers: A story of broken links

Dental Materials, 2008
This brief review essay was triggered by the discovery of two errors that have been perpetuated in the dental literature for the last quarter century and is intended to alert the research community. An extensive search of the published literature, using PubMed and Web of Science search engines, electronic journal resources, and several trips to the ...

Comment on paper “the bulk modulus and Poisson's ratio of “incompressible” materials” by P.H. Mott, J.R. Dorgan, C.M. Roland

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2010
A widespread error related to Poisson's ratio and its limiting value 0.5 provokes complex explanations of fully coherent experimental data.

Paper XI(iii) Influence of the pressure dependence of the surface films Young's Modulus on its protective properties

1987
The pressure distribution in the static and elastic sphere/plane contact containing a thin layer having a Young's modulus different from the substrate is studied by means of a foundation model taking into account the elastic deformations of the substrates and the pressure dependance of the Young's modulus of the material of the layer.

Paper XI (i) The influence of elastic deformation upon film thickness in lubricated bearings with low elastic modulus coatings

1990
The elastic deformation of a layered surface firmly bonded to a rigid substrate has been calculated for an infinitely wide nominal line contact between a cylinder and a plane using both a simplified model, the so-called constrained column model, and a full elasticity model.
