This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

X‐Ray Tomography Analysis of Damage Mechanisms in Metal Matrix Syntactic Foams During Compression
In situ synchrotron X‐ray tomography is used to investigate the internal damage mechanisms of AlSi12 metal matrix syntactic foam with ceramic hollow spheres during compressive loading. It is concluded that a homogeneous distribution of the second‐phase filler material results in a sequential collapse in a localized region; this leads to controlled and ...

Curvature‐tuned auxetic lattices are designed, fabricated, and mechanically characterized to reveal how geometric curvature governs stretchability, stress redistribution, and Poisson's ratio evolution. Photoelastic experiments visualize stress pathways, while hyperelastic simulations quantify deformation mechanics.

Approximation properties of Stancu type Szász-Mirakjan operators
In this paper, a class of Stancu type Szász-Mirakjan operators are introduced. The approximation properties of the operators are discussed using tools of modulus of continuity, modulus of smoothness and K-functional.

A New Modulus of Smoothness for Uniform Approximation
The estimates of best approximation using classical modulus of smoothness is not uniform. Also we sometimes need to improve the degree of best approximation near the end points. Thus we need to improve this classical modulus of smoothness. Here we define a new modulus of smoothness to achieve uniform estimates of best approximation and an improvement ...

In this experimental study, the mechanical properties of additively manufactured Ti‐6Al‐4V lattice structures of different geometries are characterized using compression, four point bending and fatigue testing. While TPMS designs show superior fatigue resistance, SplitP and Honeycomb lattice structures combine high stiffness and strength. The resulting

Asymptotic Smoothness, Convex Envelopes and Polynomial Norms [PDF]
We introduce a suitable notion of asymptotic smoothness on infinite dimensional Banach spaces, and we prove that, under some structural restrictions on the space, the convex envelope of an asymptotically smooth function is asymptotically smooth ...

Plasma‐assisted hybrid friction stir welding of dissimilar AlCu joints employs localized plasma preheating to balance heat input and enhance plastic flow. The optimized process reduces axial force by up to 35%, refines the microstructure, and achieves ≈96% joint efficiency.

Rheocasting versus Die Casting: An Insight into the Low‐Cycle Fatigue Behavior of AlSi7Mg0.6
The study compares rheocast lightweight components with high‐pressure die cast materials regarding microstructure and fatigue behavior. Rheocast process offers higher efficiency due to lower casting temperatures. Despite some microstructural differences, both processes show similar strengths (yield strength 125 MPa, tensile strength 240 MPa).
