Supernumerary chromosome system, C-banding pattern characterization and multiple nucleolus organizer regions in Moenkhausia sanctaefilomenae (Pisces, Characidae)

Genetica, 1989
Chromosomes of Moenkhausia sanctaefilomenae (10 males and 20 females) collected from a tributary of the Tiete River (Botucatu, S.P. Brazil) were examined using kidney and testicular cells. Both males and females presented 2n=50 chromosomes and 1 to 8 small supernumerary microchromosomes.

Cranial skeletogenesis and osteology of the redeye tetra Moenkhausia sanctaefilomenae

Journal of Fish Biology, 2012
The skeletogenesis and osteology of the syncranium of the redeye tetra Moenkhausia sanctaefilomenae is described. Skeletal development is rapid, with many elements of the chondrocranium and splanchnocranium well formed prior to the onset of ossification.

Early ontogeny of aquarium-raised Moenkhausia sanctaefilomenae (Characiformes: Characidae)

Ichthyological Research, 2011
The ontogeny of the characiform fish Moenkhausia sanctaefilomenae, from early embryogenesis through the early larval period, is presented. Fertilized eggs were slightly elliptical, measured 0.6 mm in diameter, and were surrounded by a fertilization envelope 0.8 mm in diameter.

Predation Effect ofBelostoma dentatum(Hemiptera: Belostomatidae) on the Predator Perception and Behavioral Response ofMoenkhausia sanctaefilomenae(Pisces: Characidae)1

Journal of Entomological Science, 2018
Abstract  Predation is an important interaction for the regulation of population dynamics due to the effect caused by the direct consumption of prey. However, some populations present strategies to detect risk of predation and react to the predator. Our objective was to evaluate the effect of the predation risk of Belostoma dentatum (Mayr), under the ...
