Powder Optimization Strategies for Binder Jetting Printing of BaTiO3 and Ba0,6Sr0,4TiO3 Ceramics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder optimization is investigated to enable binder jetting of BaTiO3 and Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3 ferroelectric ceramics. The antagonistic relationship between flowability and binder compatibility is addressed through binder impregnation of granulated powders and fumed silica addition to fine powders.

One-dimensional scanning of moisture in porous materials with NMR [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
A versatile and modular nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) instrument is described that is particularly suited for the study of moisture transport in porous media such as various building materials in which moisture can give rise to several kinds of ...

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

Combined heat and moisture transfer in buildings systems

open access: yes, 2012
Temperature and humidity are the two main parameters indicating the comfort level of the building occupants. Although the effect of temperature is taken into account in thermal simulation of buildings, the moisture transfer through the rooms and porous ...

Quantifying free tropospheric moisture sources over the western tropical Atlantic with numerical water tracers and isotopes

open access: yesAtmospheric Science Letters
Tropical free‐tropospheric humidity plays a crucial role for the Earth's radiative balance and climate sensitivity. In addition to atmospheric humidity, stable water isotopes can provide important information about the hydrological cycle.

Validation of FEM models describing moisture transport in heated concrete by Magnetic Resonance Imaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Fire safety of buildings and structures is an important issue, and has a great impact on human life and economy. One of the processes negatively affecting the strength of a concrete building or structure during fire is spalling.

Moisture and salt transport in three-layer plaster/substrate systems

open access: yes, 2010
We have investigated whether a plaster which has two plaster layers with different pore sizes can act as a salt accumulating plaster system, in which salt crystallizes in the base layer of the plaster and not in the substrate or at the external surface ...
