Optimization of Ionic Matrix Deposition to Increase the Performance of MALDI‐Based Spatial N‐Glycomics

open access: yesJournal of Mass Spectrometry, Volume 61, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Ionic matrices for matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) have demonstrated superior performance compared to traditional matrices for profiling and screening of carbohydrate composition. However, their application in MALDI‐MS imaging of N‐glycans in tissues remains elusive, in part due to suboptimal matrix application conditions ...

Respiratory Particle Emissions in Tracheostomized Outpatients: Comparable to Healthy Volunteers

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 2, April 2026.
In stable outpatients, aerosol emissions did not differ between the three groups across common respiratory activities, suggesting the exhalation route is not a major determinant of emission under these conditions. The impact of tracheostomy care procedures, such as suctioning, was not evaluated in this study.

The Development and Co‐Production of a Caregiver Coping Resource for Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Autoimmune Liver Disease

open access: yesLearning Health Systems, Volume 10, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Caregivers of children with chronic conditions have mental health needs, with no known resources for caregiver coping in pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and autoimmune liver disease (AILD), which can be co‐morbid. Quality improvement (QI) has previously co‐produced resources within Learning Health Networks (LHNs).

Comprehensive Insights into Natural Bioactive Compounds: From Chemical Diversity and Mechanisms to Biotechnological Innovations and Applications

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2026.
Natural products derived from plants, animals, fungi, bacteria, and minerals contain diverse bioactive classes such as alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, saponins, tannins, and phenolics. These natural products work through different mechanisms, including ROS inhibition, NF‐κB suppression, and cytokine regulation, and exhibit wide applications across ...

Topical cream with essential oils, zinc and salicylic acid reduces pruritus and skin lesion scores in pruritic dogs

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, Volume 104, Issue 4, Page 196-205, April 2026.
Objectives To assess the efficacy of an essential oil, salicylic acid and zinc‐based cream in the relief of pruritus not secondary to infectious pyoderma or ectoparasites and associated dermatological lesions. Methods Forty‐one client‐owned, otherwise healthy, dogs with chronic, noninfectious pruritus were enrolled in a double‐blinded, placebo ...

Skin Barrier Biomarkers in Patch‐Induced and Clinical Allergic and Irritant Contact Dermatitis

open access: yesContact Dermatitis, Volume 94, Issue 4, Page 317-326, April 2026.
Both patch‐induced and clinical ICD and ACD showed consistent alterations in skin barrier‐associated biomarkers, indicative of skin barrier impairment. Among the tested allergens, chromium elicited more pronounced biomarker responses compared to nickel and methylisothiazolinone.
