The Effect of Temperature on Moisture Transport in Concrete [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials, 2017
Most concrete structures and buildings are under temperature and moisture variations simultaneously. Thus, the moisture transport in concrete is driven by the moisture gradient as well as the temperature gradient. This paper presents an experimental approach for determining the effect of different temperature gradients on moisture distribution profiles

Vegetation effects on soil moisture estimation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE International IEEE International IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2004. IGARSS '04. Proceedings. 2004, 2004
Several successful algorithms have been developed to estimate soil moisture of bare surfaces. We previously reported a new algorithm using the tilted Bragg approximation. However, these algorithms are only applicable to bare surfaces. When vegetation is present, soil moisture is typically underestimated by bare surface algorithms.
