A new thermodynamic function for binary mixtures: the co-molar volume [PDF]
We have developed a new theory relating partial molar volumes of binary mixtures to the specific (Voronoi) volumes. A simple relation gives new insight into the physical meaning of partial molar volumes in terms of the actual volumes occupied by the molecules.

This perspective article explores an innovative powder metallurgical approach to producing high‐nitrogen steels by utilizing a mixture of stainless steel and Si3N4. This mixture undergoes hot isostatic pressing followed by direct quenching. The article also examines adapting this method to laser powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB/M) to overcome nitrogen ...

Effect of molar volume of diffusing elements and cross terms of Onsager formalism (vacancy wind effect) on estimated diffusion coefficients in ternary and multicomponent solid solutions [PDF]
The correlation between intrinsic and tracer diffusion coefficients considering the molar volume of the diffusing elements and cross phenomenological constants of Onsager contributing to the vacancy wind effect in ternary and multicomponent systems. Manning established this correlation assuming constant molar volume.

Hypomineralized Second Primary Molars as Predictor of Molar Incisor Hypomineralization
AbstractMolar incisor hypomineralization (MIH) is a developmental defect of dental enamel that shares features with hypomineralized second primary molars (HSPM). Prior to permanent tooth eruption, second primary molars could have predictive value for permanent molar and incisor hypomineralization. To assess this possible relationship, a cross-sectional

Combining supercritical CO2 (s‐CO2) cycles with particle‐based heat transfer media holds great potential in concentrated solar power plants but poses enormous material challenges. The particle/s‐CO2 heat exchanger must withstand extreme conditions, including high temperatures, pressures, CO2 corrosion, and erosion.

Phase-Field Model of Solution and Stoichiometric Phases with Molar Volume Difference [PDF]
Phase-field models have proven indispensable for deciphering the microstructure complexities inherent in multicomponent systems. The confluence of varying phase molar volumes presents unique challenges. Understanding the impact of molar volume differences on multiphase systems is of crucial significance, as it directly influences the system's ...

Powder Metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing of High‐Nitrogen Alloyed FeCr(Si)N Stainless Steel
The alloying element Nitrogen enhances stainless steel strength, corrosion resistance, and stabilizes austenite. This study develops austenitic FeCr(Si)N steel production via powder metallurgy. Fe20Cr and Si3N4 are hot isostatically pressed, creating an austenitic microstructure.
