Enhanced Thermal Energy Storage in Buildings: Impregnation, Leakage, and Environmental Performance of Organic and Inorganic PCM Composites

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Construction Materials and Technologies
This study experimentally investigates the impregnation and leakage performance of various organic (tobacco, sawdust, bay leaf, black cumin) and inorganic (vermiculite, perlite, bentonite, sepiolite) carrier materials used for phase change material (PCM)

Partial depletion of plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 decreases subcutaneous fat cell hypertrophy and liver cholesterol in high‐fat‐fed female mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...

Emerging experimental and computational methods for studying redox‐regulated structural transitions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Redox reactions can reshape proteins and alter how they behave in cells, with important consequences for health and disease. This review explores emerging experimental and computational approaches for discovering these redox‐sensitive protein switches, revealing their structural effects, and predicting their behavior, opening new opportunities to ...

Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms of Salivary Gland Development and Regeneration: Implications for Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Health Sciences
Salivary glands are essential for oral health, but their function can be compromised by cancer, autoimmune disorders, infections, and physical traumas, severely impacting quality of life. There is currently no cure for salivary gland dysfunction, and treatment is symptomatic.

Translophagy—A potential link between autophagy impairment and translational errors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neurodegenerative diseases are characterised by the accumulation of abnormal proteins and protein aggregates, but their origin often remains unknown. We propose that selective autophagy removes damaged protein‐making machinery, preventing errors during protein synthesis.

Fabrication and characterisation of 3 dimensional scaffold for tissue engineering application via microstereolithography technique [PDF]

open access: yes
Microstereolithography is a method used for rapid prototyping of polymeric and ceramic components. This technique converts a computer-aided design (CAD) to a three dimensional (3D) model, and enables layer-per-layer fabrication curing a liquid resin ...
