Establishing research strategies, methodologies and technologies to link genomics and proteomics to seagrass productivity, community metabolism and ecosystem carbon fluxes

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2013
A complete understanding of the mechanistic basis of marine ecosystem functioning is only possible through integrative and interdisciplinary research. This enables the prediction of change and possibly the mitigation of the consequences of anthropogenic

Wafer‐Scale Single‐Crystal Boron Nitride: Synthesis and Integration in 2D Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This Review highlights recent breakthroughs in wafer‐scale hBN synthesis and its integration into next‐generation 2D electronics. We analyze growth kinetics, epitaxial strategies, and stacking‐sequence control while correlating material quality with device performance.

Stochastic Impedance

open access: yes, 2019
The concept of impedance, which characterises the current response to a periodical driving, is introduced in the context of stochastic transport. In particular, we calculate the impedance for an exactly solvable model, namely the stochastic transport of ...

Direct Mode‐Resolved Measurement of Interfacial Phonon Transport by Acoustic Phonon Reflectometry

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
We introduce a novel analysis, acoustic phonon reflectometry, that measures the mode‐resolved phonon reflection coefficient at semiconductor interfaces. In aluminum nitride, we observe excellent agreement with the acoustic mismatch model across three distinct interfaces.

Exploratory search during directed navigation in C. elegans and Drosophila larva

open access: yeseLife, 2017
Many organisms—from bacteria to nematodes to insect larvae—navigate their environments by biasing random movements. In these organisms, navigation in isotropic environments can be characterized as an essentially diffusive and undirected process.

Acoustic Spectroscopy of the DNA in GHz range

open access: yes, 2010
We find a parametric resonance in the GHz range of the DNA dynamics, generated by pumping hypersound . There are localized phonon modes caused by the random structure of elastic modulii due to the sequence of base ...
