Microporous Materials, 1993
Microporous thin films composed of a molecular coupling layer, zeolite crystals, and a porous silica overlayer, were formed on the gold electrodes of quartz crystal microbalances (QCMs). The silica overlayer enhances the mechanical stability of the zeolite films, and results in additional surface area and porosity as characterized by the sorption ...

Optically detected acoustic paramagnetic resonance in molecular crystals
Chemical Physics Letters, 1973Abstract The optically detected acoustic paramagnetic resonance of the metastable triplet state of 1,2,4,5-tetrachlorobenzene (TCB) in zero field is reported. The spin-phonon interaction in molecular crystals is discussed in terms of the direct process single phonon absorption by the paramagnetic spin system.

Induced molecular transport due to surface acoustic waves
Journal of Applied Physics, 1981An investigation into the possiblity of inducing a net transport of molecules via their interaction with a propagating surface acoustic wave is reported here. A theory is presented predicting such a transport and giving a formula for the pumping rate of a device consisting of two evacuated chambers connected by a channel of rectangular cross section ...

The measurement of molecular orientation in fibers by acoustic methods
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1960AbstractIn the present work, the sound velocity in polymeric fibers or film strips is related to a quantitative measure of molecular orientation in the sample. It is shown that this measure of orientation can be calculated from two experimental quantities: the sound velocity in an oriented specimen and the velocity in a randomly oriented sample.

Transverse Acoustic Modes of Coherent Molecular Motions in Tetracene Crystals
The Journal of Physical Chemistry LettersMolecules in organic crystals, akin to atoms in inorganic lattices, can act as rigid units whose vibrations mediate thermal transport. While collective molecular motions are expected to generate coherent vibrational modes, including longitudinal acoustic (LA) and transverse acoustic (TA) modes, the coherent excitation of TA modes in molecular crystals ...

Acoustic Biosensors for Noninvasive Imaging of Molecular Processes
Understanding biology in its native context has been a major scientific endeavor. Yet, it is challenging to visualize cellular dynamics at the molecular scale in the context of a living organism at the macroscopic scale. Ultrasound imaging represents a promising candidate to address this challenge, with its unique advantages of large imaging volume ...openaire +1 more source

Acoustical Studies on molecular interactions of Agarose and DMSO at 303K
Gurukul International Multidisciplinary Research JournalAbstract: This study investigates the molecular interactions of Agarose dissolved in Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO) at different concentrations at 303K using ultrasonic techniques. Ultrasonic velocity, density, and viscosity were measured for various Agarose concentrations to examine the intermolecular forces, solute-solvent interactions, and structural ...
