A review of methods used for studying the molecular epidemiology of Brachyspira hyodysenteriae

open access: yes, 2017
Brachyspira (B.) spp. are intestinal spirochaetes isolated from pigs, other mammals, birds and humans. In pigs, seven Brachyspira spp. have been described, i.e. B. hyodysenteriae, B. pilosicoli, B. intermedia, B. murdochii, B. innocens, B.

Clinical, Histologic, and Serological Predictors of Renal Function Loss in Lupus Nephritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Kidney survival is the ultimate goal in lupus nephritis (LN) management, but long‐term predictors remain inadequately studied, requiring long‐term follow‐up. This study aimed to identify baseline and early longitudinal predictors of kidney survival in the Accelerating Medicines Partnership LN longitudinal cohort.

Molecular Epidemiology of SARS-associated Coronavirus, Beijing

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2005
Single nucleotide variations (SNVs) at 5 loci (17564, 21721, 22222, 23823, and 27827) were used to define the molecular epidemiologic characteristics of severe acute respiratory syndrome–associated coronavirus (SARS-CoV) from Beijing patients.

Zinc Exposure Causes Disulfidptosis to Induce Miscarriage by Up‐Regulating GATA1/METTL1/SLC7A11 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Zn exposure up‐regulates GATA1, promoting GATA1‐mediated METTL1 and SLC7A11 transcription. It also enhances METTL1‐mediated m7G modification on SLC7A11 mRNA, increasing SLC7A11 mRNA stability. Ultimately, Zn exposure up‐regulates SLC7A11 at both transcriptional and post‐transcriptional levels, causing disulfidptosis. Knockdown of murine Slc7a11, Gata1,

Machine Learning for Green Solvents: Assessment, Selection and Substitution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Environmental regulations have intensified demand for green solvents, but discovery is limited by Solvent Selection Guides (SSGs) that quantify solvent sustainability. Training a machine learning model on GlaxoSmithKline SSG, a database of sustainability metrics for 10,189 solvents, GreenSolventDB is developed. Integrated with Hansen solubility metrics,

Molecular Epidemiology of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2001
Subtyping methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) isolates and tracking nosocomial infections have evolved from phenotypic to genotypic approaches; most laboratories now depend on pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE).

ZDHHC9‐Mediated Palmitoylation of ACSL4 Drives Ferroptosis in Diabetes Mellitus–Induced Erectile Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus‐induced erectile dysfunction (DMED) is a highly prevalent complication among diabetic patients; however, its underlying pathogenic mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Metabolic disorder is a hallmark of diabetes, yet its precise contribution to DMED progression is not well defined.

Canagliflozin Alleviates Diabetic Glomerular Endothelial Injury via Melibiose in a Microbiota‐Dependent Manner

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Canagliflozin treatment reshapes the gut microbiota in DKD and elevates levels of melibiose, a metabolite derived from Roseburia intestinalis. Melibiose directly binds to and enhances the enzymatic activity of glyoxalase 1, leading to decreased methylglyoxal accumulation.
